I decided to enter the Wedding Cake category this year at the Oregon State Fair. I was pleased to walk away with a first place blue ribbon. Everything is made of fondant except for the black satin cord trim. Each diamond shape and stripe were cut and applied like mosaic.
I entered this in the state fair and won a 1st place blue ribbon AND Best in Division. I took strips of gum paste and literally wove a basket for the straweberries and roses. This was the first time I ever entered any kind of contest. :o)
This is a 10" tall replica of a Red Solo Cup with 6 layers of various cake flavors. I used 5 8" round cakes and one 6" round cake and carved it. I made this for my boss' goddaugther's birthday. I addd whipped cream before presenting it for the 'foam' effect.
Orange buttercream icing with matching roses. I added butterscotch liqueur to the icing. Added a nice different flavor to it.
This is my first gumpaste flower made in class.
This is my first cake with homemade chocolate fondant. I dusted everything with pearl dust and it changed the color to the look of copper.
Took a Wilton Tall Cakes Class and this is the results of my first 2-tier cake.
