Frankenstein's Monster
all fondant over chocolate cake and buttercream, bavarian cream filling (dyed orange). MIL wanted a 60th birthday cake for my FIL and her cat, wait for it... Frankenstein. She wanted a cake that incorporated my FIL October birthday with a Halloween themed cake. How can you NOT incorporate a black cat named Frankenstein... She allowed me full creative control...probably the last time she does that... ha ha ha!!! (oh and shout out to cakesbyallison, for I used her cake as a catalyst for this monstrosity!)

Cake For Angel Alexis
Baking is supposed to be fun, but I don't think I have stopped crying since I agreed to do this cake. I am a beginner (and hobbyist only), so, I knew I was going to struggle with such an order, but a 6 year old girl passed away from cancer, and her Make-A-Wish wish-granter asked if I could bake a cake for her post-internment reception. I was honored to be asked and then set out to make a beautiful cake for Alexis. Her Make-A-Wish wish was to be a Princess for a day. She is now a princess for eternity. This is the final product. I can tell where I need vast improvement, but for the occasion, and that I was severely emotionally compromised the entire time, I am pleased.

Bow Cake
What isn't a disaster on this cake. The gumpaste bow broke before application with no time to make a new one. It was way too hot and humid for the fondant!! I started adding stars to the top to cover the tears! :(.. At least the cake, white cake with raspberry filling, taste delicious!! I guess even the broken bow was enough to impress...no one seemed to know it was a complete mess.
