Dinosaur Train
Ugh! I totally copped out when I was almost done and exhaustion set in. This was for my nephew's birthday. His only requirements were that it was Dinosaur Train themed and that it had a big "E" on it for Eli. The E is on the back of the train... characters were scultped and he placed them on top. The only part I'm REALLY disappointed in are the wheels. Any input as to how better to make train wheels, I'm all ears... would love to learn. Thanks for looking!

Narnia Cake
From The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, a scene called Aslan's Camp, (for my daughter's 13th birthday). Gumpaste flowers spelling her name and bordering the cake board, a centaur made from gumpaste and modeling chocolate, and a gumpaste Aslan (lion), a modeling chocolate table on a fondant blanket with gumpaste weapons around it. The main cake, Aslan's tent, covered in fondant and decorated in Royal icing, then handpainted gold.

My First Wedding Cake
They were to add flowers to it after I had set it up, and a topper, but all in all, this was my first. I worked sixteen hours on this - is that normal? And I was devistated at the results, I'm completely open to suggestions on how this could have been better... here were my issues: The cakes baked up smaller than the cake boards, I trimmed them, but was using the SPS system, and the cake plate was showing after they were stacked. My "tried and true" vanilla buttercream recipe failed me this time, in that I couldn't for the life of me get a smooth finish regardless of the three different methods I tried... Viva, hot knife, and roller. The crumb coat never crusted, so when the final coat went on, some crumbs made it to the top. I'm going to try refridgerating the crumb coat next time to avoid this. Thank you so much! ~H

Who Wants To See A 60 When They Could See Three 20's?
My mother's birthday cake - she'd never be one to show disappointment, but certainly wouldn't want to see a big 60 on her cake... so she got three 20's instead. Her figure is perched on top in gumpaste, as well as her two pugs. The petal effect isn't something I'd do with a ribbon again, but it she loved it - and that's the mark I was aiming for.
