I was perfectioning gluten free recipes and wanted to see if the vanilla cake was suitable for carving. Something very simple... and my daughter has been asking for this cake the whole last year :-), she loves everything dog related. It's a minicake - vanilla and chocolate GF cake, filling vanilla and chocolate IMBCs, covered in fondant, decorations fondant and fondant/Tylose mix. I cheated a little bit (the dog's head made with a silicone mold), colors, shape and details of the purse do not correspond exactly but I've set myself a limit of 1,5 hour to decorate (including coloring fondant which I hate). The birthday girl absolutely didn't want a girly cake but one with dragon/dinosaur :-) So Mom decided for the castle cake. I also added a secret cave with the illuminated treasure chest full of precious stones (aka colored candied sugar). Originally planned to make a pink-white cake with horse theme for the birthday girl but she (and Mom) wanted something 'femminine'... 10'' square vanilla with vanilla and strawberry IMBC and fresh fruit and 9'' hexagon chocolate and vanilla with sprinkles cakes, filling chocolate, vanilla, Nutella and caramel IMBCs, dark chocolate shavings. A rush order (Thursday night) - the birthday cake for a DJ, his girlfriend wanted just blue, white, black and silver. The birthday girl had to cut on servings as some of the guests were not able to come to the party. It's really was a pity as it was supposed to be a two tier cake and would have come out much better. A 'Thank you' cake for a lady who has already got a 1yr baby girl and expecting a baby boy soon. Half of the cake is decorated with pink flowers, other half with blue ones. Just some dummies: 10x6'', 8+6x4'' and real flowers (which the bride wanted, I'd prefer gumpaste ones). Inspired by Jennifer Dontz's Minicakes photo sent by the bride, they are really beautiful.

Mom requested an owl cake for her daughter's first communion :-) Then picked up the cake 1 hour in advance, so unfortunately I wasn't able to finish decorating (a miniature Bible, branch with leaves, flowers). Next week is Mother's Day, so here is something ladybug themed for the occasion. Chocolate cake - 10'' round and 8'' made in the biggest zuccotto pan I've got. Filling caramel IMBC with caramel topping, dark chocolate shavings and white chocolate ganache. Covered with fondant, decorations fondant and GP. Head RKTs covered with marzipan/fondant. TFL!
Not keen on making black cakes, but they are elegant. The birthday girl wanted absolutely no flowers, so it was a bit difficult to decorate, she wanted something really minimalist (and the whole message on the board :-)). Bottom tier vanilla cake with vanilla and strawberry IMBC and half pound of sliced fresh strawberries and white choc ganache. Top tier cocconut cake with cocconut IMBC and white choc ganache. Covered in fondant, decorations fondant (bow and brooch), number gumpaste and ribbons.
Some leftover small layers of vanilla and almond cake, torted and filled with vanilla and strawberry BC and sliced fresh strawberries. Covered in fondant, decorations fondant, chocolate rice crispies (meat), BC (mayo), strawberry topping (ketchup) and real sesame seeds. Kids wanted to take it to the school tomorrow to fool the teacher and their classmates :-)) TFL!
Traditional yeast cookies filled with fruit jam or cream cheese, gingerbread cookies decorated with RI and chocolate, vanilla and pecan cake with caramel, vanilla and Nutella IMBC filling. Covered with fondant, decorations RI and gingerbread cookes. This has nothing to do with cakes: decorated sticks in front of the cake are made of thin willow branches, decorated with colorful ribbons and used by men and boys to 'beat' women and girls on Easter Monday - any non beaten woman won't be beautiful for the entire following year :-). The women's revenge is throwing cold water to men early in the morning when they are still sleeping. (Czech Easter traditions).
A birthday cake for a girl who discovered to be pregnant at the day of her birthday :-) . Planet Cake's Chocolate Mud Cake - a great recipe, filling vanilla IMBC. Covered with fondant, decorations fondant/Tylose mix. Last Sunday I've got my first zebra print cake order (you won't believe!) but didn't take a photo, so wanted to do something similar but different. (The cake was not supposed to look like a Dutch windmill :-) - the stripes had to be bent around and flat. But I left them too long on the counter and they got hard even if they were covered.) TFL! Was trying new recipes as I love mudcakes: caramel and white chocolate (Caramel Mudcake/Cupcakes on this site - good recipe) and chocolate mud cakes (Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake from Sky High - good, dark, chocolate cake but not keen on mayo in this one at all), filling vanilla and strawberry IMBC. Covered with fondant, decorations white and dark modelling chocolate and fondant. TFL!
Birthday cake for 1yr old girl who loves frogs. Her name is Emma which is also my daughter's name so these are always my preferred cakes and I give a small present to the child - in this case 3 different color chocolate candies in the form of the frog. Bottom tier chocolate cake with Nutella, vanilla IMBC, white chocolate ganache and dark chocolate shaves. Top tier vanilla cake with fresh fruits pieces, vanilla and strawberry IMBC, dark chocolate shaves. Covered with fondant, decorations fondant.
