Tie Dye Zebra Cake
The rolled out fondant! I used pink, blue and white fondant, rolled into "logs" then twisted together, folded over, etc. until I liked the pattern, then rolled it out. This was the outside of the fondant, because I thought it would be cool to show that natural white spot that just happened there.
Pina Colada Cupcakes
My mom gave me the idea of trying out Pina Colada cupcakes, and here's how they turned out! A yellow cake from scratch, with bits of pineapple inside, and made with pineapple juice, coconut extract and rum extract. The buttercream is coconut flavoured, with toasted coconut on top. VERY yummy!
Judy's Birthday Zebra Cake
I was commissioned by my friend to make a Birthday cake for her mom. It's a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, covered and decorated with Satin Ice vanilla-flavoured fondant. I used the zebra technique from Sweet Wise using The Mat:
Fourth Of July Cupcakes
These are vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. I used the Wilton spray-on food colouring for the blue and red effect on the buttercream, as well as red, white, and blue sprinkles on top.
Batman Birthday Cake
A birthday cake I made for a friend, which was commissioned by her husband ;) It's a mint dark chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, covered in fondant with a fondant Batman emblem on top (the bat was drawn on with an edible marker), with Batman emblem molded chocolates on the side, then trimmed and scripted with vanilla buttercream. So yummy!
Chocolate Vanilla Birthday Cake
A birthday cake for a friend! A three layer 6" vanilla heart cake, with chocolate buttercream (and some Ghirardelli chips in between the layers too!) and chocolate buttercream roses.
Some more fun stuff that I made for my gaming group, this time, Lego Cupcakes! Dark chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, and a vanilla-flavoured fondant Lego block.
Blue Rose Cake
Blue rose cake! it's white velvet with mint buttercream, with some of the buttercream tinted blue. Features my very first buttercream rose!
When making the Dice cake, I had some batter left over, so I filled one 6" heart cake pan, and made this little cake. Dark chocolate cake, with peppermint buttercream, and Ghirardelli semi-sweet mini chips.
I made this cake for our role-playing game group. It's a dark chocolate cake with peppermint buttercream, and black peppermint buttercream for the dots.
Als Awareness Red Velvet Cupcake
Red Velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting, and a fondant ALS Awareness ribbon.
Winter Wonderland Cupcake
White Velvet cupcake, with mint buttercream (tinted blue), with a hand-piped white chocolate snowflake.
Peppermint Mocha Cupcake
Inspired by the Coffee Mate creamer, these three flavours seem to go so well together! Dark chocolate peppermint cupcake, with coffee buttercream, a chocolate-covered espresso bean, and an old fashioned peppermint stick.
Gingerbread cupcake with maple cream cheese frosting, and a gingerbread man-shaped fondant decoration.
Christmas Rose Cupcake
Vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream, and a vanilla-flavoured fondant rose.
Winter Themed Cakes
Some winter themed 6" cakes. White velvet, with mint buttercream, then covered in fondant (blue and red) and decorated with white fondant snowflakes. Made these for a bake sale at a Christmas craft fair :)
Mead (honey-wine) cupcakes, with mead buttercream. Made with Intermiel's Medieval Reserve sweet mead.
This was left-over from my wedding cake, so I made it into it's own little cake for friends. Like the wedding cake, it's red velvet with cream cheese frosting, covered in white fondant, trimmed with red fondant and decorated with fire & ice roses.
My First Wedding Cake
Well, pretty much what the title says, my first wedding cake! The base is 9x13" and the round cake is 6". The cake itself is red velvet with cream cheese frosting filling, and then covered in white fondant, trimmed with red fondant, and decorated with "fire & ice" fondant roses with a few petals here and there. The cake is for my friend's mom, who's having a small wedding/reception. I'm very proud of this one :)
Strawberry cupcakes with strawberry cream cheese frosting. These turned out great, but due to it being a little warm in the house, the frosting started melting! They look like they have soft ice cream on top rather than frosting...but they still tasted great! :)
White Velvet Banana Cupcakes - Take 2
Here's my second take at the white velvet banana cupcakes - white velvet cake had a couple tweeks: I only used egg whites this time, and put in less sugar. The cake itself turned out just sweet-enough, and not overly-sweet like the last time, but still tastes like a sugar cookie, yum! Banana buttercream turned out nicer this time too. I also made some fondant bananas for decorations. I think these are much prettier than the first attempt.
Yellow Spring Flower Cupcakes
Chocolate cupcakes with mint cream filling, and a pretty yellow buttercream flower on top.
