Pink Puppy Cake
1st birthday cake for my grandchild. Sponge cake filled with buttercream, covered in sugarpaste (fondant). This is from a design in a Debbie Brown book. The butterfly is a royal icing run out, usng flower stamens for the antennae. The cake board (actually, its an upturned tray!) has been covered in sugarpaste and embossed using a flower cutter and a heart crimper. As cake tins / pans, I used an ovenproof basin for the body and an oversized cappucino cup for the head; snout, paws and tail are sugarpaste. discs on collar are strawberry flavoured choclate buttons (in uk, they are made by Silverspoon and can be found in many supermarket baking aisles - I think Wilton also do flavoured buttons, possibly called Candy Melts?)

Cadbury Chocolate Button Cake
My version of a cake I saw on Flickr, as created by I Heart Cake, for a guy's 40th who is mad on cadbury chocolate and gadgets - thanks for the inspiration IHC x Chcoclatae sponge cake covered in sugarpaste, coloured with grape violet, and liberal amounts of giant Cadbury's choccy buttons

40Th Wedding Anniversary
This was made for my sister and brother in law's Ruby wedding. It is an 8 inch lemon cake filled with buttercream and lemon curd. Iced in white sugarpaste which I embossed with hearts and decorated with red and black flowers. This is my first attempt at a wire toppper. It was made from gold flower wires and tiny oblong and square red beads and inserted into a cake pick.

Individual Retirement Cake
Personalised retirement cake for a colleague (who is a social worker, hence the rules and regs!). Cake stood about 5 inches high and was baked in a coffee mug. The figure was made of modelling paste and slightly resembled the 'owner'. Was fun to do, but have learnt little cakes can take as much time as big ones! Inspiration was from a 'wastebin' cake seen on the internet, apologies, cannot remember the source.
