used a stencil to help me with the design. The cake topper was made by a friend of mine.
My first successful Buttercream transfer. I used Sugar Sheets for the top layer and the diamonds on the bottom.

I wish I had a better picture of this cake. All the time it took was so worth see my friend's grandson's face when he saw it.
Just something I whipped up last minute. Wish now I would have spent a little more time to fix somethings but my nephew was still impressed. He thought it was a store bought cake until he tasted it.
Made these for a family friend. They have a long running family joke about beavers....I dont even bother to ask :)
I made this cake for my daughter's 5th Birthday. I usually let the kids tell me what kind (theme) cake they want but I surprised her with this. She loved it! and I have to admit I am really proud of how it turned out since it was my first time doing a cake like this.
I was asked to make this cake for a sweet sixteen party, they provided the candles and just said they wanted it pink and strawberry flavored. The bottom layer is 10" Strawberry with strawberry flavored icing in middle, middle section is 8" (3 in deep) also strawberry and the top is a 6" chocolate cake. I tried the stencil techinque in the middle section.
This was a very special cake for me. My mother passed away in June of 2010 and I found the pan for this cake. She made the same cake for my brother when he was little. His Birthday was Sept 28th and I surprised him with this cake. It was great to see his face and to also bake the cake in the same pan my mom had used all those years ago.

My first cake that I actually carved and did not make from a shaped cake pan, just wish I was a little bit straighter on the lines! It will come with practice! Only been doing this for a few months now with no classes.
I have been wanting to make a candy cake for awhile now and when my neice's bday came up I had my chance. She loved it. The bottom layer is surrounded by rainbow twizzlers, sprinkled with nerds, the bottom of the cupcake is hersey bars and the top has chewy sweet tarts. This was one heavy cake but it made the hour long drive perfectly!
This cake was actually for a Memorial service for a fun loving woman and her family with a great sense of humor. It was a family joke. Middle of beaver was red velvet and the tail and head were chocolate.
It looks a little crooked but I think its the platter its sitting on.
No fondant. the top of the graduation cap is cardboard iced. just need to work on my writing

My son's friend loves my chocolate cake, so at the last minute for his birthday I made this cake. Its crumbled oreos on top with oreos cut in half around the bottom. Smelled like sugar heaven.
