Poker Cake

Poker Cake

This was my first cake!!!! I wanted to do something special for my guy friend for his bday. He loves poker. All decorations were done with marshmallow fondant and I used edible markers to decorate the cards.

Mothers Day Giftbox Cake

Mothers Day Giftbox Cake

the cake is a red velvet cheesecake along with a creamcheese buttercream. I used a square pan and then shaped the cake into a rectangle. I used purple marshmallow fondant to cover the sides and made sure that the height was about 1/4 higher than the cake to create a box effect. the cake was covered with Wiltons Damask sugar paper after the fondant was in place. This was my first time using the sugar paper and it was not as 1-2-3 as I thought but it could have been user error (lol). I left the top of the cake purple to keep the inside of the box effect. The cake lid was a simple box lid that I also covered with the sugar paper. Now for the fun part. The strawberries!! Save the best for last. I just dipped the strawberries in a variety of chocolate placed into cups and push a toothpick through to hold in place. Hope you guys enjoy and please feel free to leave me any suggestions or tips you may have for me for next time.
