Where The Wild Things Are
This may be my favorite cake yet. I keep saying that, but who doesn't love Max and his Wild Things? This was for a boy baby shower and knowing the parents, it will be a wild rumpus indeed! Yellow cake with IMBC, raspberry IMBC filling.
Greta's Princess Cake
This cake was a gift for a friend's DD's 3rd birthday. I used it as a trial run for my first RI tiara. All in all everything went well. I was surprised how easy it was and how quickly it dried. I was also surprised when it broke almost in half, but it held together well once I put it on the cake. At the birthday girl's request, it's a strawberry cake (CMD recipe) with vanilla IMBC and fresh sliced strawberries.
Blue Denim Flowers For Joni
Baked this cake for a friend's mom - she requested chocolate and peanut butter and man was that PBIMBC good! I still had the smell floating around in my head 2 days later! Not really intended to look like denim but I guess it sort of looks like it. Really liked the way this one turned out!
Bowie Hs Graduation
For nephew's graduation. Bulldog is mascot, symbols on 6" are band crest, the B's are part of the school logo. Ultimate Butter Cake with IMBC. Yummy.
Pink Daisies And Ganache
Flowers done in fondant/gum paste mix, pink IMBC topped with dark chocolate ganache.
Monkey In A Bubble Bath
This was for a friend's baby shower. The bathtub is cake, the monkey is fondant, the ducky is rubber. Strawberry cake with vanilla IMBC and fresh strawberries.
Princess Castle Cake
For my daughter's 4th birthday. White cake with lemon filling, strawberry cake with fresh strawberries, all covered with IMBC, fondant towers, windows & door. She did a princess dance for me when she saw it the morning of her party!
Not actually for a wedding but could have been, covered in white fondant then airbrushed for tie-dye effect
A Whale Of A Cake
Carved vanilla cake covered with airbrush fondant, birthday cake for DD's 3rd birthday.
Graduation Cake For Medical Field
Everything you see is fondant except the name badge. I was going to get an edible image printed but it would have cost too much so I just used paper on a fondant cutout.
For My Sister's Baby Shower...
Large cake is butter cake, hive is carrot, all frosted with IMBC. First time with the IMBC. LOVED IT!!!
Under The Sea
Here's my rendition of this theme. Bottom tier carrot cake, top tier yellow, both with pineapple cream cheese filling and cream cheese icing. Decorations are a combination of fondant and CC icing.
6-Pack Of Theakston's Beer
What an experience! the cake is a 11x15 chocolate sheet cake cut into 3 pieces, layered with whipped chocolate caramel ganache, mixed media decorations. Beer bottles are modeling chocolate, bottlecaps and sides of box are fondant, lettering is white chocolate. Of course there are things I would do much better, but everyone at the party was floored when they saw it, and the birthday boy was particularly happy.
I made this for a friend's boyfriend's birthday. I used the basic instructions for the Frankenstein cake from the ACD email newsletter. The cake is chocolate pound cake III from this website, and it worked quite well for carving, even though it was a little crumbly. Anyway, I think he looks like a middle-aged geeky guy, but I suppose it takes all types to make zombies.=)
Based on Bronwen Weber's Spooky Cake Challenge design. Pumpkin and hat are cake, hat brim is fondant covered cake board.
Olive Gift Cake
This was a cake for my Wilton III course. I was going on a girls' weekend the next day, so decided to make it appropriate with cocktail garnishes. Started with olives and loved them so much I stuck with them. A classmate suggested the mini-olive borde around the bottom. White/choc cake with chocolate almond BC, fondant everything else. What a fun cake to make!
Old Buzzard Beer Cake
The label reads "Old Buzzard Beer - Regurgitating Swill since 1936" Many disasters involved with this one. See Disaster forum for the full story.
Wilton Class Ii Final
My final project for Course II, also my mother's birthday cake. Chocolate chip cake with chocolate buttercream, royal flowers. I'm pretty pleased with the result. I was really dreading the basketweave and didn't expect it to come out as well as it did.
This was strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream (very slightly flavored with Lorann oil.) It was for a friend's mildly autistic co-worker who had her heart set on strawberry cake, so that's what she got!!!
Canada Day Cake
I did this one in a huge hurry on Canada Day. It was one of my very first cakes, just did it for practice, still didn't have my icing consistency right. Took it to a dark, smoky bar, though, so I figured nobody would even see all the flaws.
Class I Final
Vegan devil's food cake, chocolate buttercream filling, class buttercream icing & decor, used egg replacer instead of meringue powder-which didn't keep the colors from bleeding, by the way. Broke one layer in half taking out of the pan, so I torted the remaining half, sat them side by side & as a result have a 1 1/2 layer cake!
