This is my entry for That Takes The Cake 2011. http://thattakesthecake.org I got 2nd place in the Culinary Student Wedding Cakes.
This is the baby shower cake I brought to the North Texas Cake and Sugar Art Show 2011 in Plano. It is a dummy cake decorated entirely out of fondant, with the cutouts adhered with piping gel. The tiers were covered with white fondant, then airbrushed blue. I used floral wire to hang the bigger cutouts from the cake wires
This half sheet cake is marble chocolate/white cake with vanilla butter cream. I tinted the butter cream for the borders burnt orange by adding in drops of brown and orange gel color until i got the color i wanted. The longhorn logo and letters were printed on icing sheets and cut with a Silhouette. The graduation hat I found in the graduation dept of a party supply store.
