Made this cake for a neighbor's baby's baptism. Based the design on a beautiful cake I saw on CC made by berni2611. While I we were very pleased with the way it turned out when I made it the night before the baptism, by morning one side of the cake's fondant had ruptured and had several bludges and splits. I might have had too much butttercream frosting underneath. The neighbor put it on top of the refrigerator the night before to keep it out of harms way and thinks it might have been too warm. Yikes!
My first attempt at a topsy-turvy cake for a celebration at church. Vanilla butternut pound cake bottom layer, chocolate cake middle layer and top. I sprayed dry spaghetti noodles with silver edible spray in a can to support the shooting stars. Got into trouble with fondant that because dry due to my mixing colors - yikes! Learned some hard lessons, but enjoyed the challenge.
I made this 8" round cake for my mother for Mother's Day. Yellow cake, vanilla buttercream frosting for sides, chocolate buttercream for top, bumble bees are yellow frosting rounded into body with almond slice wings.
