Teddy baby shower cake for my sister-in-law. I wanted to keep it simple as she didn't want too much. It was a 7-inch chocolate cake and I made each of the items on top. I also used a laser leveller I bought from a hardware store to keep the vertical and horizontal lines nice and straight for piping the dots.

My Plymouth Rock Chicken Cake The Chook Is Made From A 9 And 8 Round Butter Cake And I Moulded Each Of The Feathers From Fondant And Pain
My Plymouth Rock chicken cake. The chook is made from a 9" and 8" round butter cake and I moulded each of the feathers from fondant and painted them. I thought it would take quite a long time, but nowhere near as long as it did. It took a VERY long time! I entered in a local show and came second in Open class, which is really exciting. The standard in Open class is amazing!

Standing Horse Cake
This is my horse I've entered in a local competition, in novice class - as it's my first year. It took a good 5 days to do, as I was trying to figure everything out as I went. The legs & under tummy is a stainless steel frame and the body, neck & head is cake. I modelled him on a famous racehorse, but he's maybe a little chubby to be built for speed - I used photos of the real horse and bought a horse magazine for reference. He's about 10.5 inches long from front to rear legs. First go at airbrushing, which is more scary than what I thought.

Puppy Figure
This little black puppy is called 'Scruffy' and made with fondant. I did him to go with a wedding cake I was asked to do for a friend. She had the ceremony on the beach and their little dog was part of the ceremony, with a white silk bow collar. She wore thongs/flip-flops because of the sand and was still one of the most stunning brides I have ever seen. I placed this little dog at her seating at the reception as a surprise and it nearly brought her to tears!

Wedding Cake With Peony
Wedding cake for a friend's daughter. The stripes, sharp edges & peony were challenging for me, haven't done these before and hoped it would turn out better than it did. It makes you appreciate simple & classic designs are still quite difficult. The bride was lovely to deal with, which made things much easier.

Chinese Lion Dog Statue
As just a hobbyist, this was a bad idea. Way too hard! I thought the carving was hard enough, until I had to cover it! It was all carved from pound cake, the entire base is carved from one block of cake, except for the cardboard the lion sits on for support with the triangles stuck on. The lion is all cake, carved from 3 round cakes and even had a ball in his mouth. Definitely a good learning experience.

Kissing Couple
This was a practice, based on a pic of salt & pepper shakers that stick together with a magnet. I was going to use them on top of an engagement heart cake - that's why the little girl has a ring on her finger. The S&P shakers were in traditional wedding outfits, so I changed it a little. These figures were made with fondant.

Tartan 60
Made for a friend's 60th birthday who loves her highland dancing. I didn't know the best way to do a tartan pattern, so just painted it on freehand. Once you paint the black on, it's on for good! It ended up a bit rough. The thistles were made with fondant. I managed to dot the forgotton 'i' just before rushing out the door! Not a good idea piping with a shaking hand.

Wedding Cake
Wedding cake I made for my brother-in-law. Cakes were 8", 10" & 12" choc mud with real flowers & piped dots. There was also an extra 11" square in the kitchen to make up the numbers. The birds were made of fondant and painted with silver, then a clear glaze. This was my first attempt at a wedding cake - a bit stressful! Some last minute alterations and a bit of damage in transit.

Harry Potter Cake
Harry Potter cake for a HP fan's 13th birthday. The cake was chocolate mud, including the owl & bag. I modified lollie teeth to use for the Monster Book - not quite the same effect, but just wanted to use something different to the normal fondant decorations. The gold snitch was a chocolate Lindt ball covered in fondant & dusted with gold luster.
