Armadillo Cake
My original plan was to make him stand up on all 4 feet, but then I realized that they really wanted the Road Kill version instead, so I used the rice cereal parts that were already done and just did a little rearranging. Of coarse, the cake is red velvet and I used chocolate icing. The body was made by cutting in half and stacking a 14 inch square. The carving was relatively simple on this one. The facial details and the lower part of the feet were done with gum paste and the rest of the covering was done with white fondant. Most of the texture was applied using a small, sort of, square measuring spoon. Some hand painting was done, but most of the color was added with an air brush. I had a lot of fun with this, especially taking the pictures. I wouldn't normally photograph a cake behind a car or in the middle of the street, but it seemed appropriate for this one.

Locomotive Cake
3D Locomotive Cake. This was my 2011 Entry in the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show in Tulsa. The base board was 48 inches long by 16 inches wide. It was over 100 servings, most of which was in the ground under the tracks. I used fondant and gum paste to make all of the parts and then applied fondant panels over the cake.

Dale Jr. Car Cake
This fondant covered race car cake is about 16 inches long. The car was 2 layers of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting under the fondant.. The base is one layer of white cake (12x16) with vanilla butter cream and black fondant squares. The decals were edible images printed on sugar sheets. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to try these since these cars have so many small decals on them.
