All Buttercream With Fondant Accents Having The Worse Time Trying To Figure Out Why My Cakes Keep Bulging You Can Really See On The Top
All buttercream with fondant accents. Having the worse time trying to figure out why my cakes keep bulging (you can really see on the top tier). I stacked a floor tile on top after it was crumbcoated and let it settle for a couple of hours - which was a tip I found on the message boards... but it still bulged. I only used minimal buttercream between the two cake layers. Any advice is appreciated.

T-Rex ? Dinosaur
Head is 5 layers of white cake covered in fondant ... not the best idea. The weight was really heavy and the top 4 layers slid forward in transit. Was able to shift back in place, leaving several "battle scars" (hey, dinosaurs fought, right?) The bottom was a white cake with chocolate icing and fondant body.

Tardis
Dr. Who "Tardis" cake for a Sweet 16 birthday party. Lemon cake with buttercream icing. MMF for windows and signs. Cake is 17" tall. This was the 2nd cake I made ... unfortunately, the 1st one failed to negotiate a left turn and toppled and I had to redo ... and devise a better cake support system!

Waffle Cake
Made this cake for a radio station promotion -- 2 couples getting married at a Waffle House on Valentine's day. Sides look like pancakes, couldn't quite figure out how to make them look like stacked waffles. Waffle, letters and butter made with MMF. "Syrup" is colored vanilla flavored piping gel

Eyeball Worm Cake
A friend had asked for a "scary" cake for her son's 7th birthday. Using inspiration from other cakes on this site, here's what I did. She loved it! The eyeball is cake using half of the ball pan. The worms, eyelid and tombstones are MMF. I made the skull with chocolate candy mold. The "blood" is tinted apricot preserves and the "dirt" is chocolate graham crackers. My favorite part are the names on the tombstone. I had a lot of fun making this cake
