This was my most challenging cake yet. I made this for a friend's niece. Since I am still practicing on the basics of decorating I wasn't sure what to do for extra decorations around it. I toyed with several ideas. Considering I agreed to do this cake with only a day to plan it, I opted for fishy stickers on the board. The cake is a sheet cake that I trimmed in the shape of the fish body. I baked an extra one that I used for the tail and fins.
Still learning and trying things. I made this for my nephew's 2nd birthday. I was running out of time and being rushed so I didnt have time to do the hands...then I forgot the nose. He loved it anyway!
My first cake I made for my father in law's 50th birthday. They asked me to bake a Gator cake - never had I decorated a cake other than slap some icing on one - and I am certainly not a Gator fan - but I couldn't say no. I looked around at so many different ideas and couldn't decide. I put all my favorites about each one together and this was the outcome. Everyone was impressed, mostly myself. What have they started? :) Go DAWGS!
