Customer wanted simple Nemo sheet cake for 2-y-o. Sheet cakes aren't my thing (I have only done 3D novelty cakes), but I have to admit that I enjoyed doing this one. Tried my hand at buttercream gel work (BC and corn syrup for the characters). Everything is buttercream except for the fondant sea shells. TFL!
I had cake leftover from another project, so I decided to use it to make this little bubble bath. Before I found cakes, a nice bath and glass of wine is how I preferred to spend my free time :) Not technically fantastic, I know, but a fun way to spend an hour and use up the leftovers. Everything is edible. TFL!
Five-year-old customer wanted the fairy house from The Great Fairy Rescue movie, along with some of the surrounding landscape. House is cake; landscape flowers, bugs, and mushrooms are cake balls. Everything is edible except the house bell and paper cup topper.
This is my first just-for-the-heck-of-it cake. No customer, just for me :) I tried to duplicate Seurat's famous work of pointillism but with dots of buttercream instead of paint.
Customer provided the script for this thank-you cake to her daughter-in-law. The colors were to match the dental school graduation cake I also did for her son. It's my first book. I learned A LOT come time for my second book! The fondant couple is supposed to look like the DIL and son. TFL :)
Made for 2-y-o fan of Wall-E. Wheels, body, and shoe are cake. Head and arms are fondant-covered styro. Mud and dirt is chocolate buttercream and ground oreos.
Mommy friend wanted a "simple globe cake with yellow flowers" for her daughter's second birthday which coincides with their celebration of Earth Day. Fondanting a globe shape = NO FUN!
