This was for a friend's 50th birthday party. It's Totoro from the wonderful Japanese animated film "My Neighbor Totoro." (Like any good children's film, it offers a lot for adults, too.) It's one of the first I did after taking my first suite of Wilton classes several years ago.
My friend wanted a chocolate cake to go with their more traditional wedding cake, and they wanted to incorporate their dog, so I did this ganache-covered cake with handmade doggie-paw chocolates. Their colors were brown and navy, and I had a nicer border in mind, but the customer is always right, even when they're not paying. :-)
