Initials Graduation Cake
These were cakes I did for my nephew's high school graduation. Each cake was a different flavor (carrot, chocolate, lemon). They were all filled and frosted with cream cheese frosting. I decided not to cover the sides and I'm glad I didn't, because the cakes were very rich and the frosting on top was enough. I made the cap, tassle and diploma of gumpaste. I saved myself a step and ordered the irises when they were on sale from Global Sugar Art. They were perfect and just what was needed to make the cakes POP!

Gerbera Birthday Cake
This was a very last minute request by my daughter for a friend's birthday. I was told to do something simple as they were just getting together with a small group for a brunch. It's frosted with a french buttercream. I did a bit of an hombre effect with some gerbera daisies. The recipient love it.

Snake Cake
This was a very last minute birthday cake that I threw together for my son's girlfriend. She love's snakes! She has 2 of them as pets (they live in my basement)! I made it using the pan that they use for those retro doll cakes we used to see made in the 70's. Yup! I have one of those pans that was handed down to me from my Aunt. I figured I had to use it at least once.

Chocolate Farewell Cake
I made this cake for my supervisor when she left for another job. I'm still perfecting the ganache technique. It was loaded with goodies from chocolate covered strawberries, to cookies, marzipan flowers & pearls, chocolate covered espresso beans dusted with gold luster dust, and the list goes on...

Rustic Birch Bark Wedding Cake
This is a 3-tiered cake covered in fondant to look like birch bark. It was down coated uding various petal dust colors in an afford to bring in some of the coloring of the cake top. Vine is chocolate fondant and leaves are gumpaste. I don't have many good pictures because cake could not be assembled until after delivery and my son delivered it. But some pictures are of separate layers in my trunk.

Birch Bark Wedding Cake
This was a miniature practice model for an upcoming cake. The tiers are 7", 5" & 3". Covered with straight fondant. I believe it was just the Wilton brand, but I'll be using something a little better for the real thing. After doing this I have decided that I'll be using more dry-brushing with a few different edible petal & luster dusts. I'll also attempt to add a little more texture with knots and some light gouging.

Rustic Christmas Cookies
These was a flannel lined basket of Christmas cookies I made for last years Christmas party. The Christmas tree cookies were a shortbread recipe I got out of a Better Homes & Gardens or Good Housekeeping magazine. There's a variety of about 5 different kinds in here. The spicy molasses stick bundles were tied with thin wired gold ribbon.

16Th Birthday For Boy
This was a very last-minute cake made for my nephew's 16th birthday. A single layer chocolate cake. Made to give the idea of a football field. Since I was short on time, I focused less on the cake and more on the fondant figure of "Scrat" from the movie "Ice Age". I was asked to have a squirrel running a touchdown with an acorn under his arm, so this is what I came up with.

Woodland Fairy Babies
This is the cake I made for the Franklin County Fair in Massachusetts. It was a two layer round cake covered with chocolate fondant made to look like tree bark. The top was white fondant colored a golden yellow and scribed to add rings. Shading etc. was added with various thinned gel colors and powders. All decoration is fondant, gum paste or a combination. If you look closely you can see where my children's birthdates are "carved" into the top. I took first place in the decorated cake competition and best in show for baked competition.
