Portal Cake
Definitely the most complicated cake I've tried so far! The cube is 5 layers of vanilla raspberry swirl, stacked and trimmed to 8" (more or less - not perfect by any means!) and covered with MMF. The Black Forest cake is three 8" layers with cherry filling, covered in BC and grated chocolate. Made for a geek's big 3-0!

Volcano Cake
My son asked for a volcano cake for his 8th birthday. I used the giant cupcake pan and carved the top layer, then used some of the pieces to make the 'outcroppings' at the sides. The icing is knoxcop1's chocolate decorator's BC and was yummy! The lava is red BC, the water is piping gel tinted blue, the grass is green BC and the sand is brown sugar.

Purple Converse Sheep Birthday Cake
Yes, really! I have a friend who loves Converse shoes, sheep and purple, so for her birthday I made a purple cake with the sheep (done in Color Flow) designed after the sheep on a pair of her favourite Converse. One of them is black, and of course he's facing in the opposite direction from the rest...

Jack O'lantern Cake
The cake itself is pumpkin - actually two pumpkin bundt cakes. Eyes, nose and mouth were rolled from black gumdrops, and the leaves from green ones. The vines are fruit snacks, cut into strips and curled, and the stem is an ice cream cone covered in chocolate. One of my first cakes, done a few years before I started taking classes.
