Laptop Monster Computor Cake
I made this cake for my 13 year old grandson. He is one of twins and he likes browsing the Internet. He also likes the look of Monster Energy drinks logo so I decided to combine the two. The bottom is a 11x18 sheet cake. The laptops bottom is a 9x13 cut to fit. The lid is a sugar cookie that had two bamboo screwers baked into it.I outlined and flooded the back of the lid with dark chocolate royal icing. The Monster logo on the back is flooded with colored royal icing. I then drilled two holes in the cake board so the lid stood by itself and I put the rest of the cake around it. The rest of the cake is iced with IMBC frosting that was smoothed with paper toweling. The key board is 3 hersheys dark chocolate bars with piped on frosting. The screen is the only thing what was not edible. It is a desktop photo shot that was laminated. The bottom sheet was woodgrained with dark brown coloring mixed with water and brushed on with a chip brush. This cake was very challenging but the end was worth every minute. My grandson loved it and that was everything to me!

Dirt Track Truck Cake
This was a cake for my 13 year old grandson Eric. He is one of twins and he likes truck races. The bottom layer is a 11x15 cake pan. The other layers are 9x13 carved to fit, with a total of four layers. It is frosted with IMBC over the entire cake. I then curved the river and filled it with Wilton Sparkle gel. The sign is a graham cracker frosted,Pretzel legs, and the lettering is piped on with a #2 tip. The rocks are choclate cover cookie dough and the boulders are Ferrero Rocher chocolates. The dirt track is made of chocolate bits sprinkled in a winding road. I then piped on the plants with a # 3 leaf tip. I sprinkled graham cracker crumbs all over the ground areas. I then put on the trucks and piped grass for the RV to sit on. I then glued a clear straw on the bottom of one of the trucks so it looked like it was flying into the sign. i really enjoyed making this and my grandson really liked it.
