Irish Dancing Cake
Celebration Cake for my cousin who has just passed her Irish Dancing teaching exams. The cake has a little pair of soft shoes on top with cutouts, just like an Irish Dancer would wear. The Celtic pattern was taken from a frequently used Celtic circle border design and put together in under half an hour! In fact, I had less than 24 hours to do this and another cake, and I was away from home at the time without much of my equipment, so I was quite pleased with how it all turned out!

Basketball Cake
Basketball cake made for my uncle who is an Irish Basketball coach. The colours are to reflect the Irish flag. This was my first ball cake, so I was very pleased with the overall shape, especially as I didn't have a ball tin so had to cook two halves in pyrex bowls and then do some carving! The "Spalding" sign is handcut. I wasn't very happy with the lines on either the cake or the board, but unfortunately my extruder broke and I don't have a ribbon cutter at the moment so I had to cut them by hand, which meant they were not always the exact same thickness and some were much thicker than I would have liked. If I was to do it again, a ribbon cutter would definitely be employed! I was also annoyed that one of the lines on the right hand side had moved, which I didn't notice when I took the photo! Overall I'm quite happy with it though, especially as I was abroad when I had to make it (so out of my own kitchen and with not all my equipment to hand!) and I also had less than 24 hours to make this and another cake - so not too bad for a rush job!!

70Th Birthday Allotment Garden Cake
Critique Subgroup Member: 70th birthday cake for an allotment gardener with removable keepsake topper. The topper ended up a bit bigger than the cake's diameter unfortunately (poor measurement on my behalf!) but the recipient (a family friend) seemed delighted anyway. I think my ribbon needs to be a bit straighter, as does the framework on the greenhouse and I didn't like the angle of his arm either. Also the lighting needs to be a bit better as you can't see the "mud" in the veggie patch or plant pot very well and it makes the plants in the greenhouse look very faded. It also doesn't show up the shading I did on the greenhouse to make it look like glass!
