The customer wanted me to include her favorite flower, their school mascot, a plane and plane tickets for their 3 year long distance relationship, and their favorite character from Madagascar which was the first movie they saw together. Oh and just write Happy Anniversary on it somewhere ;). So this is what I came up with. TFL.
First Topsy Turvy/disaster!
Well, this was my frist attempt at a topsy turvy and let's just say I learned a lot! The whole cake was basically a comedy of errors and I was not at all surprised when it fell over!
When Turkeys Dream.....
Here are some pictures of all of the different components of my cake. It had to travel to reach the client so I did not place the figures on top. Hopefully she will send pictures of the completed product! All decorations are fondant/gumpaste. Thanks to amylsavage for the idea!
Phineas And Ferb Attacked By A Shark
This cake was for my friend's son who wanted a shark and Phineas and Ferb cake. I decided to have Dr. Doofenshmirtz create a shark-inator to attack all the characters. The cake had near disasterous structural problems but the kids didn't seem to mind cracks and bulges in the fondant!
Defeated By Cheese!
Mouse is made of fondant. Flag is made of gumpaste. Thanks to SilkAgain for the idea!
Us Citizenship Cake
My husband asked for a cake of the entire USA when he took his citizenship exam. This is what I came up with. All of the decorations are made of gumpaste. The figure sitting on Texas holding US and Hungarian flags is my husband.
Mac N Cheese
The pot is covered with fondant painted with edible glitter. Handle is gumpaste and pasta is fondant.
Cream cheese frosting. Oreo crumbs. Dark chocolate fondant tree stump and fence. Gumpaste bunny. Marzipan fruit.
Mast is dowels tied together with a string. Sail and shark fins are gumpaste. Pirates are RKT covered with gumpaste.
A cake for a friend who got engaged after an ATV trip through the woods. Figures are gumpaste. ATV is RKT covered in gumpaste.
Clothing, baby, and booties are made from gumpaste. The clothesline is BC and royal icing. The grass is BC. Pink luster dust was used on the edges of the blanket. The cake is covered with MMF.
This was my first stacked and spiral cake. There was a near disaster during transport but luckily it only added to the 'falling rocks' effect. After this I leared it was time to invest in actual cake boards! The decorations are all made of a 50/50 gumpaste and fondant mixture.
This is the cake I gave to the employee at the store that was kind enough (bored enough!) to cut me 20 cake boards from one piece of plywood. The figure and wood pieces are gum paste.
This was for my husband's lobster themed birthday party. Image transfer with piping gel. Buttercream. Peanut butter cups on the side to go with the peanut butter and chocolate cake.
Based on Wilton's Park Paradise. Red Velvet Cake (Paula Deen's recipe), buttercream, fondant rocks, royal icing trees and people, pretzel dock and fire, graham cracker beach and tent, and piping gel water. Fishing rod and marshmallow stick are toothpicks. Fishing line is thread.
