Just tried this for the first time and it worked really well. My niece and her brother graduated together, so rather than have two cakes I opted for the cupcake tree. I was a lot easier since it was serve yourself.
My nieces cake was white with butter-cream inside 2 tiers and butter-cream with strawberries in 2 tiers. Covered with white chocolate fondant. The petals were made of fondant, dried out and colored with petal dust.
