Cake was devil's food covered in chocolate ganache.
The people were molded out of fondant, swimsuits were starburst candy rolled very thin. Got the idea from an old Wilton magazine.
Used a smidge of watermelon flavoured jello the BC. I was worried it would be nasty... but it tasted fantastic and had rave reviews! If you try this make sure to ice your cake right away because the jello sets a bit overnight and the icing becomes too firm to pipe.

This one was a labor or love. Spiderman bust made from rice cereal treats and modeling chocolate. Buildings from sugar cookies. Superman crest from rice cereal, fondant & modeling chocolate.
Client was a huge Nancy Drew fan - loved the old retro 1930's books. The flashlight and magnifying glass are handmade from gum paste & sugar candy (minus the little LED in the flashlight of course!). It took a lot longer to carve out Nancy then I had planned... but I think it turned out pretty well (by my third attempt!)
This was for my son's 3rd birthday. We always put the most time & effort into our own! Angry birds were modeled out of MMF. Cake was devil's food with chocolate filling posted by cassi_g16 (thank you! it was FABULOUS!!)
Client was having a star wars themed 20th birthday and needed to feed 40-50 people. She left me with full creative license to come up with an idea. It's a little hard to see but this cake has a little green LED inserted into the cake to the death ray. A "finger light" from my local dollar store. Looked brilliant. :)
