Giant Cupcake
Tiered cake with giant cup cake on top. This one was almost a disaster. I'm not sure what I did wrong since I used the same support system that I always use for a tiered cake, but, by the time I reached the park where my friend was having her daughter's party, this one has started to tilt dangerously to one side. At least it still tasted good.

Possum Birthday Cake
My boss's boss is nicknamed for some character from a children's book called Petey Possum, so she collects possums. This is a last-minute, day late, birthday cake for her featuring my first ever possum made from fondant. I'm not sure it looks all that much like a possum, but ...you be the judge! ';~)

Happy Birthday Elephant
This was the companion cake to the Monkeys in a Palm Tree. It started out with the Wilton miniature teddy bear pan with his ears cut off. The ears are made of very thin cardboard covered in icing. The pattern fit the large teddy bear pan and I didn't shrink them enough, so the didn't want to stay on-there were lots of toothpicks behind them holding them on!

Monkeys In A Palm Tree
This is one of my favorite birthday cakes that I have made. It was for my friend's little boy's first birthday and I think she found the pattern on the Wilton web site (but I'm not positive). It is a Wilton pan, though. The monkeys were supposed to be made from royal icing, but I made them out of fondant and they were so much easier than I thought they would be. I'm uploading a picture of an elephant cake that went with this, so check it out, too.

My First Robot Cake
My friend's son is on a robotics team at his elementary school and, for his 10th birthday, he wanted a 'standing up robot cake.' Having never done a 'standing up robot cake,' (or any other robot cake) I consulted the gallery of Cake Central and found this cute one. Mine isn't as good as some of the others on CC, but he loved it and so did my friend! Everything is edible but the cake board and the lollipop sticks holding his hands and antenna. The decorations are sugared fruit gels, the trim and his hands are Twizzlers (I won't do that again!) and the other candies are Skittles. I covered him in bc, but next time will definitely use fondant. The only thing fondant are his antenna, but next time I will use Blo-Pops or Tootsie Pops. All in all, a very fun cake!

Vbs Commencement Cake
This is a cake that I did for Vacation Bible School commencement at our church this year. It was one chocolate and one vanilla layer with buttercream filling and icing. The logo is a representation of the logo for the theme this year- Saddle Ridge Ranch. It started life as a fondant cut out that looked awful until I added some piped stars and outlining. It still didn't turn out quite like I wanted, but everyone loved it.

Oval Wedding Cake - 3 Flavors With Rolled Buttercream
I am very partial to this cake because it is MY wedding cake! ;~) My mom told me I was crazy to make my own, but I did it anyway. The bottom and top tiers are lemon pound cake with lemon curd filling, the second tier is chocolate pound cake with chocolate ganache filling, and the third is carrot cake with white chocolate cream cheese filling. The whole thing is frosted with white chocolate cream cheese frosting and covered with rolled buttercream. I don't know how it tasted because I didn't get any except the the bite I had for the pictures! I heard it was delicious, though!

Red Velvet Wedding Cake
Round, 3-tiered wedding cake with columns. This is the first wedding cake I ever made with a cake mix. The bride wanted red velvet (all I could think of was the red velvet armadillo grooms cake in Steel Magnolias!) and that's not my best cake. I subbed milk and melted butter for the water and oil and everyone loved it.

Chocolate Wedding Cake
This is the first completely chocolate wedding cake that I made. The bride's colors were brown and blue and she wanted a chocolate cake. I had my doubts, but this turned out to be one of my favorite wedding cakes that I've made. It was chocolate pound cake (my mom's recipe) covered in chocolate ganache. The bride said it tasted fabulous and it sure made the car smell good when we delivered it!
