21St Birthday "girly" Cake
My niece asked me to do a cake for her friend's 21st. She bought the birthday girl one of those hand painted glasses and wanted the cake to sort of match the design & colors on the glass.
Cake for a retirement party of a former co-worker. This is the first cake I've done using my Cricut Cake and I was pretty pleased with the results! Definitely took some fine-tuning, but in the end things worked out great, especially the logo! He lives on a lake and is a boater, thus the sailboat & c-motion wave border.
Fire Engine 1St Birthday
A cake for a friend of mine for her son's 1st birthday. Her brother recently passed away, and she wanted me to include him in the celebration. The little fireman (the birthday boy) is holding the heart as the tribute.
My 4 year old asked for a Unicorn cake at the last minute for her birthday cake (I was all ready to do Ariel). This is what I came up with from the Wilton Party Pony pan. And some 70s tie dyed cupcakes to go with the Fantasy theme...
60Th Anniversary Cake
For my friends' parents' 60th. She wanted something for fall...luckily the last time I made chocolate roses and autumn leaves, I made a ton! Still have trouble writing. I've found that I really cannot write anything in script, but I can at least print. So I've kind of morphed into a printing-with-whimsy sort of thing.
My brother in law wanted me to make him a canoli cake. I wanted to try a buche de noel as I've never made one. I found a tasty recipe for a canoli cake roll, and voila! The Buche de Autumn was born. Can't wait to see it with some holly berries and snow, though...
First Fondant / Last Class
This was my final cake for the last of my Wilton classes. It was also my very first fondant cake It was an idea in the classroom instruction book, but my friends thought it belonged at the dinner table in Beetlejuice...
My first attempt at some "fancy" cupcakes. I did sunflowers and hydrangeas. This was also my first attempt at playing with the manual settings on my Canon poin t& shoot camera. Total fun on both accounts!
Wilton Tall Cakes Class
The tiered cake I made in the Tall Cakes class. Ivory basketweave with chocolate roses and gumpaste leaves/acorns.
Scott's Porsche Cake
Still practicing my technique with fondant here. My husband wanted a Porsche cake for his birthday. I said - are you nuts? I've only been doing this for 3 months! I bought the Porsche at the drug store. ;)
Toy Story Cake
My first attempt at a half sheet. They have a lot more surface area than I realized, but I was happy with the borders at least. Luckily she didn't mind all the empty space! :)
Trying out the button flowers - I had only done them in class. This was my sister's birthday cake - dark chocolate with chocolate buttercream filling. I wish I could get my basketweave to look more precise. Practice makes perfect, I guess!
Brittany's Birthday Cake
White with chocolate buttercream. My first attempt at writing on a cake, which was a lot more difficult than it has any right to be!
Rick's Birthday Cake
Chocolate cake with almond buttercream. Still practicing flowers & layout, but I sure love making leaves!
Final Cake For Flowers & Cake Design
I found out tonight that I love doing basketweave! I could do it til the cows come home.
25Th Anniversary Cake
I made this cake for my sister's surprise anniversary party. I'd only just finished the first Wilton course, so it was a lofty undertaking and a little sloppy as a result. She was thrilled that I made it though, so that made it perfect. :) Chocolate with chocolate ganache filling and yellow butter cake with strawberry cream filling. All buttercream. Phew! What a lot of hard work that was.
