This cake was made for a very special woman who turned 90 today. The poem is one she wrote for a friend years ago and it was adapted by her daughter to fit the occasion. Bottom chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese mousse filling coated with cream cheese BC and ganache. The two upper tiers are french vanilla cake with lemon curd and raspberry fillings coated with cream cheese BC. The cake is wrapped in fondant and the flowers are made of fondant with tylose. Thank you to the Cake Central poster (wish I could find the posting/name) who put this cake idea in the photo gallery. For a novice cake decorator it was an impressive looking cake while yet easy enough for a beginner. Used french vanilla cake with raspberry and lemon curd filling. Cream cheese icing was used under the fondant.
Inspired by RBI Lace Canopy cake in Martha Stewart Weddings. The inspiration cake is tone on tone but this bride wanted something a little different. Chocolate and white cake layers covered with ganache and fondant. Flower applique of gum paste.
