My first Wilton cake. I hate stars - they're ugly as can be - but that was the assignment so give me a break ok? :) Sorry about the bad lighting in this one!
This is the second fondant cake I've made. It's an 8" cake. Two layers of chocolate with a chocolate buttercream filling (mixed with crunched up twix candy bars) and then covered in a layer of ganache and chocolate MMF. I used the cricut cake to cut out the various shapes you see.
This is the first fondant cake I've ever tried - it was for my daughter's 6th birthday. I made my own fondant and it turned out fairly well - I did have a few places where it was wanting to "crack" - which seemed to develop during the car trip to the party place - but nothing major. I was originally going to make a fondant bow to go around that center tier, but realized I wouldn't have enough drying time so I just tyed some pretty purple tule around the middle. Honestly, I think it turned out a little on the "too much" side. To many colors, too many flowers - just - whoa. It needs some serious editing, but I think it's pretty good for my first shot at fondant. Gen was really happy with it - and it tasted great!
