Butterfly Wedding Cake
Lemon swiss meringue buttercream paddled onto 10" and 6" round cakes-- the 10" is double height. Over 40 hand detailed gum paste butterflies in about 15 different colors. The bride picked the cute little bunny topper... of course I managed to integrate some butterflies up there too. Thanks for looking!

Blue Wedding Cake
This is my cake from the Florida ICED competition-- it was based on a wedding dress picture that I found (as the theme was romantic wedding dresses). The cake featured fondant/ gum paste draping on the bottom tier and string work and brooches between the bottom 2 tiers. The middle tier has string and extension work that was piped with the cake upside down. The floral separator is all gum paste- roses, hydrangea, and teal stephanotis. Board is isomalt. Thanks for looking! Cake took second runner up in the pro division.

Cake I made for a local competition. You might recognize the ivory gum paste poinsettias that I posted a week or so ago... :) Red satin ice fondant, hand made fondant pearls, gum paste poinsettias and holly, royal icing ornament and lace points. Swags and ribbon are gum paste/ fondant blend. All real cake-- butter cake with rum syrup and eggnog filling on the top and bottom and the two middle tiers are chocolate with dark peppermint ganache. Thanks for looking! :)

Penguins On Holiday
This is the 3D cake I created for the 2010 Threadcakes competition. Bear is 9 layers of cake/ buttercream with a cereal treat bottom, arms and legs. He stood about 18" tall. His penguin buddy on his shoulder is also RKT. The other 3 penguins are each 5 layers of cake, and the icebergs are also cake. The board is covered with 2 shades of blue isomalt for a nice water/ icy effect. All the details are fondant/ gumpaste held on with either tylo glue or royal icing. I built my own armature for this cake (so that Mr. Bear could stand on 2 precariously small legs), and all in all I think it took 55+ hours to create. It was a huge cake-. I made 6 batches of durable chocolate cake, 1 batch of Paula Deen's pound cake, and 1 batch of Carlo's cream cheese pound cake. Not to mention the 8 or so batches of buttercream, 3 batches of rice krispie treats, gumpaste, several pounds of fondant, a couple pounds of isomalt, some royal icing, luster dust, and whole lotta love. Thanks for looking!

Defying Gravity-- Royal Icing Style
Cake dummy covered in black fondant. Royal icing lattice rings, royal icing brushed embroidery suspended over the cake surface using a floating collar technique. Royal icing hand piped 'collar' elements. Bridgeless string work and extensions, free hand. Ribbon around the bottom is white fondant with a small fondant bow, royal icing stitching. That's a mouthful! Thanks for looking. :)

Cute Pony Cake
I made this cake for a 3 year old girl's birthday. The top pony is made out of cereal treats covered in a mixture of fondant and modeling chocolate. The mane/ tail, etc. are all fondant. The ponies around the outside were molded in fondant using a chocolate mold and then hand painted. The cake is covered in buttercream. Thanks for looking! :)

2 Gumpaste High Heels
I made these two shoes by hand from gumpaste. Everything is edible except for a small dowel in each heel for structure. The one on the left is a stiletto-- the heel was made from stacked tip 12 circles. The buckle was made from gumpaste and silver dragees. The shoe on the right features royal icing string work which I hand piped with tip 1 and also used a stacked construction for the heel. Hope you enjoy!

Thesis Cake
I made this cake for a friend's PhD defense. The thesis is the cake-- covered in fondant and hand painted with the title and author's name with gold luster dust. The screen is fondant over cardboard. The figure and the projector are modeling chocolate, and the projector is equipped with a working LED, which shines on the screen.
