Customer sent me a picture of the beautiful cake by Hen3ka, and said her daughter was in love with it. So this cake is based off of that one, just changed into two tiers instead of three. Covered in fondant with fondant and gumpaste decorations.
Based off of ChristysConfections cake. This was my first time trying gelatin bubbles. Once I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed making them and loved the result.
The customer asked for a cake with bright pink icing and also wanted to put a Tinkerbell figurine on the top. Otherwise I was given free range on decorations. Well, I overestimated how many flowers I would need and made waaaay too many. But rather than let them go to waste, I decided to just put them all on the cake :^). It's an explosion of color, and I think that's just what a 2 year old girl needs!
I made these to match my ballerina baby shower cake.
After seeing so many beautiful baby girl shower cakes her on CC, I've been so eager to make one myself. The theme of this shower was ballerinas. I've also uploaded a seperate picture of the cupcakes I made to go with this cake.

I almost didn't post this cake, but really wanted to share the story behind it. I had written down the wrong date for this cake, and was out shopping one Saturday when I got a call asking where this wedding cake was. I thought it was due the next week. I had already baked and frozen most of the cakes, and made many (but not all) of my gumpaste flowers... but I only had 1 1/2 hours until the wedding! My husband was out of town, and I was alone with my 2 and 4 year old. Needless to say, I was a wreck, and I called all my neighbors in tears. They immediately swarmed my house, bringing sugar and other ingredients, watching my kids, turning on their own ovens, and running to the store for any extra supplies I needed. Husbands with oven mitts were running cakes down the street from their own ovens to my house. In an hour and a half, we managed to get this cake together along with 3 sheet cakes. One neighbor drove to help me deliver the cake, and when we returned, the others had entirely cleaned my kitchen, done all the dishes, and mopped the floor. The cake wasn't perfect, and I did give the bride a partial refund, but she was happy with it. While it was an extrememly stressful day, I realized just how blessed I was with some of the best neighbors anyone could ask for!
I made this cake for my grandma's 80th birthday... the 0 was giving me some trouble, but was added to the cake just in time for the party :^). Iced in buttercream with gumpaste flowers.
After a recent trip to Disney World, mom wanted a cake version of her daughter's Mickey Mouse ears, but the birthday girl was determined to have princesses and a castle. So this was the compromise. Bottom cake is iced in buttercream, and top is covered in fondant. All the other decorations are gumpaste.
It was so refreshing to be given total freedom to do whatever I wanted on this cake for a friend's 30th birthday. I had seen versions of this cake on CC and really wanted to try it. I'm pleased with how it turned out and think the birthday girl will be too! The gumpaste "3" was still a little soft when I tried to take the picture which explains its slight sagging. It was fixed by the time of the party.
This cake was made for a little girl who's parents are going to surprise her with a trip to the American Girl store in Chicago for her birthday. They're going to tell her of the surprise with this cake! The bottom is iced in buttercream with gumpaste stars and letters. The top is covered in a 50/50 fondant gumpaste mix. Next time I would definitely just use gumpaste as the sides were a little too heavy. All of the decorations in and on the bag are gumpaste, including the Kit doll.

Having MAJOR problems will my buttercream wanting to sag on this cake for some reason! :^( I wish I could just cover the bottom tier with fondant, but the customer specifically requested no fondant for that tier. I hope it holds up until tomorrow!

Super sparkly for a special 9 year old. The top tier was covered in pink sugar sparkles and all the letters and zebra stripes were covered in black sugar.
All gumpaste decorations withe the exception of the printed pictures. The second picture was the birthday girl's cupcake.
This is the cross between a customer requesting a giraffe baby shower cake, and me really really wanting to use my new baby mold! The customer loved it and so did I! Iced in buttercream with MMF dots and stripes. The rest of the decorations are gumpaste. Matching cupcakes with MMF dots.
I was really stumped on a request for an 80th birthday cake for a turkey, deer, and goose hunter and fisherman. So I made serveral deer, Canada geese, turkey, and rainbow trout out of gumpaste and went for an outdoor scene. I'm really happy with how it turned out and so was the customer!
Inspired by the awesome cake by sugarfancy. The birthday girl requested a topsy turvy under the sea theme with a dolphin, sea horse, and a whale shark. Cake iced in buttercream with gumpaste decorations
