Cat In The Hat Cake
My son saw the cake done by "cookiecutters" ( http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1889243.html ) and immediately decided that was what he wanted for his 4th birthday. I took some inspiration from it, and made a few tweaks here and there. It worked in my favor that the rough "sketch-y ness" of the black royal icing detail lent itself to making it look even more cartoony.

Tattoo Cupcake Toppers
I decided to treat my tattoo artist to some "inspiration" when I went to get a cupcake tattoo. I drew traditional tattoo images on gumpaste cutouts using edible ink markers, and plopped them atop chocolate cupcakes filled with marshmellow creme and topped with chocolate buttercream. They were a hit, and the tattoo turned out great! ;)

Whimsy Wedding Cake
The bride provided my a picture of her "Precious Moments" wedding cake topper, and I was immediately inspired to incorporate elements like ribbon roses, and the scrollwork design on the Precious Moments bridal gown. The colors of the wedding were pink and sage green, so I added soft pink pearls to each tier. The bottom tier is a 10" square, followed by an 8" and 6" round. But my favorite part, was the cake itself.... basic white cake with just a hint of orange, filled with alternating chocolate mousse and orange curd mousse!

Twilight Inspired Birthday Cake
Made for a "Twi-Hard" Twilight fan, who requested red velvet (of course) and lots of sparkle! I went with the typical black and white theme, mimicking a chessboard around the side, lots of edible black glitter and the fondant red roses have lots of red disco dust. It was sparkly, for sure!

Modern Polka Dot Cake
Round 10" and 6" tiers covered in chocolate fondant with gum paste "dots" in white, ivory and pale pink. Initial "topper" cut using my "cricut cake". Kept with the theme on the outside, by making it a "neopolitan" cake - a layer of white, strawberry, and chocolate with buttercream filling

Army Camouflage Cake
I made this for a co-worker headed out to 6 months of Army training. I used plastic army men (not too creative there!) and I tried to make the fondant look like "camo". I tinted a portion black, tan, and two shares of "army" green. Then I marbelized the slightly... not too much, to get the overall camo look. It turned out great, and was quite a hit!

Black And Neon Birthday Cake
21st Birthday cake with Black and Bright Colors - Pink, Orange and Green all in fondant. Flower "toppers" made using cookie/lollipop sticks with plastic flower ornaments hot glued to the top. (I had 1 day to pull it together!) I used my Cricut Cake to cut out the "Happy Birthday" letters as well as the orange diamonds for the top layer.

Tropical Bridal Shower
The couple was planning a destination wedding in Hawaii, and so they wanted to keep the Bridal Shower in a Hawaiin theme. This was my first attempt at sugar paste plumeria blossoms, and some pink gumpaste hibiscus. Cake is covered in white fondant, with white royal icing dots, and a real satin ribbon border.

Under The Sea Wedding Cake
My very first wedding cake! The couple was passionate about Hawaii and the scuba diving they enjoyed. They really wanted tropical fish to be incorporated, and while they did not want palm tree's, they did want tropical plants, especially banana leaves. I fashioned the leaves on the top tier from fondant, and bottom three tiers started with white and progressively darker blue "waves" down to the bottom using fondant. All the coral, starfish and tropical fish were made using purchased molds, and green buttercream seaweed on the bottom two tiers.

Ninja Inspired Boy's Birthday Cake
I received a request to make a "ninja" cake for a friend's 9 year old son's birthday party. I found a ninja silohette online and used it as a template to cut out the black fondant centerpiece. I made the numchucks, chain links and throwing stars from a fondant/gum paste mixture, and painted them with silver highlighter dust. The Japanese Characters say "Ninja Warrior" (found it on the internet). Vanilla Cake with Raspberry Buttercream filling. Thanks for looking!

Pink Argyle Cake
Accidentally deleted original pics = re-posting Pink Fondant with Black Buttercream "stitching" and pearl border. Made a tiny toothpick prick in the center of each diamond, as well as the line start/stop points. Marked the lines with a fondant roller/marker and used them as a guide. Cake = 4 layer Vanilla Bean Cake with vanilla bean mousse filling

Garden Baby Shower Cake
A Baby Shower cake for a mom who didn't want a traditional "pastel pink" and frilly cake to celebrate her baby girl. I covered the cake in a light royal blue/delphinium blue fondant. Three different shades of green fondant grass in various lengths and thicknesses. The purple flowers are a mix of violet and burgandy, trying to achieve a more "plum" look (the color's of the babies room). I created the purple flowers by rolling small grape sized balls, slightly flattening and then using a ball tool to make the flower petals more concave. I then pinched on end and attached to the cake, finally placing a spiral center where the tips met. I brushed the entire thing with a generous dusting of white pearl luster dust using a fluffy artist brush. I definately need some practice on my writing skills... my only disappointment with this cake! The cake itself was chocolate, with a white chocolate- mini chocolate chip mousse.

Giraffe Cookie
For the birthday party of a friends' daughter, we decided to use her favorite animal - a giraffe. I went with a slightly more "abstract" giraffe design, to save myself from hours of detail work. This was a simple a quick decorating job, just using rolyal icing in a light yellow, with drops of a light brown/tan in royal icing while the yellow was still wet. Turned out better than I had expected actually!
