Small cake is 6" round for the birthday girl. "Wood" barrels are chocolate marbled fondant. Spaghetti is tinted buttercream. Meatballs are fondant

Littel girl LOVES beagles, and wanted a cake to reflect that! This cake wound up being one of the most challenging/fun cakes! Strawberry cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Covered in fondant. Dog bowl was small cake covered in fondant, then filled with chocolate puff cereal. Dog base/stand was made from wood and PVC pipe. Legs, tail, and underbody were made from RKT, then covered in royal icing.
This was made for a good luck cake for a girl pursuing a career as a makeup artist. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate buttercream. Makeup bag is 6" round cut and placed upright covered in fondant. All makeup is fondant/gum paste. Thanks for all the ideas CCers!

Made this for a 50th luau-themed birthday party, everyone LOVED it! Thanks to all cc'ers for the ideas! Chocolate and vanilla cake layers, covered in fondant. Pineapple was real, sand was brown sugar. Base had tiki torches built in! Real Corona (they wanted it drinkable, not sugar bottles) and limes. Ice Cubes were Jello shots! (Huge hit!)
This company asked me to make a cake for their company BBQ. They are an awning manufacturer, so I built a house with a pool and put two awnings on the house (some of their actual fabric), which was the only non-edible part. Chocolate cake base, house was vanilla, roof was RKT. All covered in fondant. Trees, bushes, everything fondant. Pool is blue piping gel over buttercream frosting. They were so happy with it, the President gave me a great testimonial! Everyone loved it!
Made for a 25th birthday. The birthday boy liked it so much that they only ate the back half of the cake (left the part that says Coors Light) and took the rest to work to put on his desk! Also, his sister gave him a digital photo frame and made her put a picture of the cake on it for his desk! 6 x 6" rounds, cake coard every 2 layers. Vanilla cake, vanilla frosting. "Beer" is fondant over a dowel. Foam is buttercream frosting. These cakes are fun to make, and pretty easy!
This was made for an anniversary cake from a wife to her husband. He obviously loves Star Trek! Constructed from wood, then covered in cake, RKT, and fondant. Lettering is edible marker. Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

This was made for a 5th birthday for a boy who LOVES octopus. The only requirement was that it was BIG and had no mouth! Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. Cake is covered in blue buttercream, octopus is RKT covered in fondant. All accents are gumpaste and fondant.
I made this for a borthday cake for a Yankee fan. They requested marble cake, and a representation of Yankee Stadium. They wanted the birthday boy's name on the "Jumbotron". All fondant covered.

This was the graduates prized car. Marble cake (I DON'T recommend for carved cakes!) with vanilla buttercream frosting. RKT wheels covered in Fondant. All edible but the top of the cap (cardboard covered in fondant) and the base.

Made for a family Memorial Day celebration, but could be used for 4th of July or Labor Day, as well. Chocolate cake covered all in fondant. The topper is not edible...breaks my heart to use things that aren't edible!! Got some great ideas here on CC, thanks!

This was made as a joint birthday and good luck cake. Both people like Metallica. Hand is RKT covered in fondant. Cake drum is chocolate on chocolate, covered in marbled chocolate fondant. Lettering is buttercream. Flames are airbrushed gum paste.
This is my first attempt at marbled fondant. Fun to make, and how easy! The daisies are one of the easier flowers that I have tried. It was a nice, quick cake to make! Yellow cake with fresh strawberries.
I created this for my sons' daycare appreciation day. Chocolate cake on the bottom, pound cake apple. All decorations are fondant. Fun to make!
I got this idea from SO many great cakes here, so thank you! My brother-in-law's favorite beer is Guinness, and I needed a creative cake for him. 6" round (8 of them!) made from pound cake (his favorite) covered in chocolate fondant. I used a dowel covered in chocolate fondant for the pouring beer. Fun to make!
I made this for friends of our that were married this past weekend. The groom is a huge NY Giants fan. The jerseys are their 4 favorite players. The cake is half chocolate/chocolate, half red and blue layered cake (the Giants' colors). It was a huge hit. The decorations are all fondant/gum paste. The sign that shows the score actually reflects the date of the wedding (4/17/10), and the other 2 signs are the cars they have (Nissan and Toyota). The columns in the front and the box seats are made of rice cereal treats.
