Paisley Wedding Cake
This cake was a conglomeration of flavors, with the anniversary tier being red velvet and chocolate and filled with ganache. The other tiers were red velvet with cream cheese filling and chocolate with cookies and cream filling. The entire cake was covered in Vanilla Meringue Buttercream icing. The bride and groom loved it! It was our first attempt at decorating an entire cake in meringue buttercream and Laura, Cake Decorator Supreme, did a fantastic job!

Viva America
This cake was for an Independence Day picnic. I suggested to my friend that I do something special for the cake that included her and her husband, so I put their heads on the body of bald eagles and voila! Chocolate butter cake with buttercream frosting (organic shortening). Bald eagle illustrations and lettering done in chocolate.

Game Of Life
This cake was created for a family that was celebrating many birthdays at one party. All the figures are made of gum paste and sculpted to resemble each of the people celebrating a birthday. Extra details corresponded to their hobbies or passions. The cake board is fashioned after the Game of Life. Red velvet cake with cream cheese icing.

Psychedelic
This was an orange butter cake with an orange mousse filling. Very refreshing and light. Perfect for a summer treat. Tie-dyed icing is swiss meringue buttercream in different colors, dolloped on the cake and then merged together with a metal spatula. I piped and carved swirlies to give in a slight Van Gogh look. So much fun to do!

Parsnip Birthday Cake
This cake was for a local farm owner's birthday. They asked for parsnips on the cake, so I painted the parsnips, lettering and some of the side grass in chocolate. The rest of the cake is covered in vanilla buttercream (made with organic shortening, as always) and piping while the inside is chocolate butter cake with the vanilla buttercream filling. Chocolate painting is so much fun. I'm getting waaaay to obsessed with it!

Good Ol' Thomas
This was the first cake I ever iced completely. No fondant. Chocolate cake with a swiss meringue and strawberry puree buttercream filing. Icing on the outside was a typical buttercream, but, as always, I use an organic shortening that is non-hydrogenated. I altered the Wilton buttercream recipe to accommodate organic shortening and it worked!!! All of our cakes are made with local and/or organic ingredients and I used a whole wheat organic flour from Lancaster, PA for this cake as well as local strawberries. It actually came out a little more moist than usual, which was a good thing! Wheels were made of covered Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Icing a cake is much like painting it, so I enjoyed it. Just took a lot of patience. Face is made of 50/50 gumpaste and fondant mix.

Ipod Cake
We made this cake for a 40th birthday party and it was a hit! No cracking in the fondant. Yeah! We did try to use silver metallic glaze on the bottom of the iPod, but we found out that the silver glaze is only good for smaller areas (i.e. the dial on the iPod). We ended up adding a band of gray fondant around the bottom. We also have to practice lettering. Perhaps, stenciling will be our next attempt! Everything else was a success. Chocolate cake with swiss meringue buttercream/ganache filling. We also sculpted beautiful earbuds that the customer decided she wants to cure and use as an art piece in her home.

Psychedelic Dylan
This was a birthday cake for a dedicated Bob Dylan fan, based on a 1966 poster by Milton Glaser. Red velvet and cream cheese icing (all made from scratch with local and/or organic ingredients) and hand painted. This was the first time the fondant came out silky smooth! No cracks. It was a miracle! For Bob's hair, we built up layers of sculpted fondant.

Jungle Boogie
From scratch chocolate cake with swiss-meringue buttercream icing. Colored the fondant, hand-painted details and sculpted all the animals. Added royal icing to the cake base, but didn't let it dry overnight. Thankfully, it ended up looking like sand or dirt and worked with the theme. A lot of fun! Still learning, however. It's only my third cake to date!
