Here's my first stencil project. I love stenciling! The 3 & 5/8" round cookies are Pumpkinwaffles Dark Chocolate Rolled Sugar Cookies decorated with Antonia74 Royal Icing. I also dry brushed Pearl Dust (Super Pearl) on the cookies before stenciling the butterflies. The sparkle shows up better in person. The cookie recipe is wonderful. I did make a substitution and a couple changes since I didn't have a couple of the ingredients. I substituted 1 & 1/2 tsp instant coffee for the espresso and dissolved it in vanilla before adding it to the mix, used regular cocoa instead of the dark, and added black color gel to darken the dough. The stencils are large butterfly stencils from designerstencils.com. I hope you like them.
This cake was covered in buttercream with royal pansies. The pansies were hand-painted with accents using coloring gel thinned with water. The main picture is the completed cake, but the lighting made it look more yellow than it actually was. The additional picture shows a truer color of soft yellow.
