Memorial Day's "b" Platoon Celebration
My hubby hosted a Memorial Day picnic for his crew. My daughter and I constructed this cake after seeing one similar to it on this site. We also make "Poppy" cupcakes....which everyone loved!!! The cakes are pound cake with the double fudge buttercream recipe found on this site (which is amazing!!!!) and the cupcakes have marshmallow buttercream. The cakes are covered in fondant.

This cake was made for a shopping night sponsored by the PTA at my daughter's school. The cake was made from golden yellow cake and frosted with Betty Crocker vanilla frosting tinted pink. This was my first attempt at any type of 3-d cake!!! The adornments are M&Ms and gummy lifesavers. It cake out pretty cute for my first try!! Any comments are greatly appreciated!!!

Baby Shower Cupcakes
I made these little baby head cupcakes for my friends baby shower. The cupcakes where classic golden cake with buttercream icing. We used fondant to make the heads and blankets as well as the little bodies under the blanket. I scored big and found tiny baby bottles at the dollar store. They came out so cute!!! Don't ask abut the "black one"....my one friend insisted that we make one!!! Please feel free to comment on any ways to make them cuter..I am new to this and would love any critiques!!!

Holiday Handbag
This is the second attempt at a handbag cake made for a friend who sells jewelry and purses. The base of the cake is a box chocolate (which she asked for ) cake with Betty Crocker icing. The top is a golden yellow box cake (again, what she likes) with white frosting. The leaves of the flowers are fondant and the flowers are made from cut up marshmallows. M&M adorn the flowers. I used black licorace for the handle. The cake was so cute that they never even cut it!! Please feel free to give me some ideas or comments, as I am new to this!!!!

Penguin Cake
The bottom layer cake is Lemon Pound cake covered with Wilton Fondant. The top layer is Red Velvet covered with Wilton Fondant. The icing is buttercream. All the little penguins, snowflakes and stars are fondant with silver dragees and silver luster dust. This was my first attempt at a topsy turvy cake.....we cut the first level wrong and figured it out for the second level. This was my first fondant covered cake!!! Any suggestions are welcome!!!
