Hello Kitty Ruffle Cake
I made this Hello Kitty cake for my daughter's fifth and my niece's fourth birthdays (they shared a party this year). Petal ruffles were made using Bloom Cake Company's tutorial, and I consulted Royal Bakery's Hello Kitty tutorial for the figures. The cake itself is strawberry with strawberry SMBC covered with semisweet ganache and vanilla-almond cake with raspberry SMBC covered with ganache.

Junk Food Cake Done For My Sons Ninth Birthday Everything Was Edible Except For The Paper Cup Holding The Ketchup The Hamburger Patty W
Junk food cake done for my son's ninth birthday. Everything was edible except for the paper cup holding the "ketchup". The hamburger patty was Cocoa Krispy treats. You can't see it in this pic, but the top tier is a deep dish pizza. It also features a taco, a hot dog, and French fries. It was a hit!

Peony And Pearl Wedding Cake
Not the best photo (waiting on the ones from the amazing photographer), but I am super proud of my very first wedding cake! Gumpaste peonies and pearls, both royal icing and dragees. The bride requested that a little pewter be added which is why some of the pearls are darker. (The stand was a little on the small side due to some changes with the amount of cake that left me without time to order a larger stand.) Tiers are, from top, 8" vanilla-almond with alternating layers of vanilla-almond and Chambord SMBC, covered in white chocolate ganache and MFF; 10" red velvet with white chocolate SMBC, covered in white chocolate ganache and MFF; 12" Bananas Foster (banana with cinnamon brown sugar buttercream and caramel) covered in white chocolate ganache and MFF; and 16" just like the top tier. I also did the groom's cake--chocolate with cookies and cream SMBC.

Peace Sign/tie-Dye Cake
I made this cake for a tie-dye, 60's-ish themed birthday for a two-year-old. The peace sign topper (gumpaste) was a special request as not only did it fit the theme, but it also looks how you would show the number two with fingers. The inside of the cake was "tie-dyed" bright rainbow colors. and looked great when sliced.

Snow Globe Cake
I made this snow globe cake for my office Christmas party. I made another cake the previous year featuring the same penguins and wanted to incorporate them again since it had been such a hit. Unfortunately for me, a vendor of ours sent a strawberry shortcake cake from a popular local bakery, and mine went untouched though it took hours to make and was lovingly handmade. :/ Just goes to show you, lol.

Cowboy Cake
I made this cake for a friend's son's first birthday. It was inspired by several other GREAT cowboy cakes on this site. I will try to upload additional pics later, but that feature isn't working for some reason at the moment. Details not pictured include a red bandanna hanging out of a stiched pocket and a sheriff's badge reading "Happy 1st Birthday".

Sweet Shoppe Cake
I made this cake, inspired heavily by the Wilton Yearbook cake, for my daughter's third birthday. While I loved the Yearbook cake, it was too much cake and too great an undertaking (what with me having to clean and decorate for the party), so I made modifications. I also made a giant and mini cupcake tower to reinforce the sweet shoppe theme.

Tangled Rapunzel Cake
I made this cake for my daughter's sixth birthday. The head and bodice are hand-scultpted fondant/gumpaste blend, the dress is cake, and, then, of course, cake below. The bottom tier was painted to resemble the artwork Rapunzel painted inside her tower. I also decorated the tier with a brick portion to represent the tower wall (sort of like you were seeing part inside/part outside of the tower). Other touches include a tiny Pascal on Rapunzel's shoulder, and Rapunzel herself is holding a palette and brush. This cake was a blast to make, and my daughter was very pleased! :)

Butterfly Cake
I made this cake for a coworker's mother-in-law's birthday. She didn't have much of an idea other than that her MIL likes butterflies. I searched the web (including CC, of course) for inspiration and came up with this. The coloring of the butterflies came from a tutorial posted by another CC user, though I didn't have the supplies necessary to make mine as nice as hers.

Nintendo Dsi Cake
I made this Nintendo DSi cake for a friend. I do not care much for edible images and really like handpainting but didn't have much time, so I decided to use edible markers for the screens. This allowed for a lot of personalization, and I think they liked those little details. I suppose an edible image would have been a lot cleaner looking, but I had fun with the art!

Animal Crossing Cake
For my son's seventh birthday, he wanted a cake representing his village from one of his favorite Wii games--Animal Crossing. I had initially planned to do many more figures and other details specific to his village, but, in between party planning and several other cakes I had to do that month, I simply ran out of time. Still, I tried to incorporate many details that would have special meaning to him.

Beehive Cake
I made this beehive cake, matching baby 'mash cake,' and two dozen cupcakes for the first birthday of the precious daughter of a girl I graduated high school with. The party had a bee theme, and she showed me a couple of pics that she wanted me to use for inspiration. This was my first order of this size, as I really only do cakes for family and friends, and I was glad for the challenge. I had a great time with it!

First Birthday--Owl Cake
I made this owl cake to match the partywear my husband's cousin (who is like a lil' sis to me) picked out for her daughter's first birthday. Everything but the flowers is freehand, and there are lots of details not shown in this pic, unfortunately. The four owls were the primary elements, with two birds, a butterfly, and lots of flowers, hearts, and peace signs completing the design. Orange dreamsicle cake for the bottom tier and vanilla on the top tier.

Dora Cake
I made this Dora the Explorer cake for my youngest child's second birthday. I showed her some cake pics from CC, and she fell in love with Bel_Anne's Dora's Map cake, so I blended that design with that of several other Dora cakes that I found on this site. Thanks for the inspiration, guys. Unfortunately, things were too hectic around the house to allow me enough time to make the Dora and Boots figures. I did make Swiper though, and that sneaky fox is trying to swipe the mini-cake and the presents! The cake itself is Orange Dreamsicle from MacsMom's recipe. Sooooo good! It was enjoyed by all!

Sports-Themed First Birthday Cake
I made this chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream for my nephew's first birthday. My sister-in-law wanted a sports ball theme but wanted to keep the cake small for him to smash. I also made coordinating baseball and basketball cupcakes, which are not pictured because my husband, the family photographer, forgot to snap a few shots of them. I really enjoyed making the figure--it was my first real figure (I've done done two very small ones before, but they were sort of just thrown together at the last minute and not really thought out, whereas this one I put more thought into.), and I loved every minute of it. Thanks to the many beautiful sports-themed cakes that served as inspiration!

First Birthday-Spring Theme
This is a copy of a Pink Cake Box cake, so I can't take any credit whatsoever for the design, but I wanted to put it up because I love, love, love the design. For a friend-of-a-friend's daughter's first birthday. I am disappointed with the bluebirds--I'm having trouble with perfecting the shape of figures, and they got a bit wrinkled as they dried. Not sure what happened, but hey, I'm a novice, so hopefully I'll improve over time.
