The Sorting Hat
Harry Potter's Sorting Hat. 4 layers, 8,7,6,5 inch rounds. Rice crispy treats formed into a cone makes the top of the hat. Rolls of fondant under the main layer of fondant make the wrinkles. I used special dark coco in my chocolate marshmallow fondant, so he's a shade darker than he should be.

The Smurf House.
Smurfette stand on her door step. Grumpy hovers over a tied up Garagamel, with Brainy Smurf. Azrael sneaks around to help Gargamel. Wash is hanging on the line. Papa discuses smurf berried with Gusty, while Clumsy waves. Smurf characters are toys. Everything else is made of fondant and gum paste with the exception of the rope, the clothes line string, and the #5 candle.

Tom & Jerry
My attempt at Debbie Browns Tom & Jerry Cake from her book Cartoon Cakes. I had a bad cake day(s). The mallet had a tragic accident before making it to Tom's head, Plus the extra fur on Tom's head didn't make it either as my fondant was being quite disagreeable. But I'm pretty satisfied with how Jerry turned out.

Tangled
Tangled cake I made for my daughters 4th birthday. Flowers represent the magical flower from the movie. I dusted them with pearl dust to give them a magical sparkle, although my camera was unable to capture it. The bottom is chocolate cake - I used Wiltons Dancing Daisy flower pan. Middle is RKT's. Top is 6" round strawberry cake. The pointy thinks are ice cream cones. I hand cut all the details out of fondant. Hand painted door. Little flowers are all piped little star flowers. Toys I purchased from the Disney Store. A central dowel rod goes through the entire cake, and attached to the base. I had originally made the center out of cake, but had to re-do it all changing it to RKT due to stability issues. I was unable to add as much detail as I would have liked due to time lost from the stability issues.

Strawberry Shortcake
Made for my daughters 3rd Birthday. Inspiration came from the CC gallery. :-) Strawberry house is RKT. Cake is covered in MMF Fondant and butter cream. Strawberry house with Emme's age, leaf door mat, and flower door knob. Strawberry Shortcake is a candle. Strawberry house, bow, flowers and strawberries are all handmade. For me this was a challenging cake. I did enjoy the challenge though! What have I learned from this cake? Never show your children the CC gallery, instead hand them a wilton book! LOL

Fairy Ballerina (Otherwise Known As The Cake I Wanted To Throw)
Cake I made for my mom's birthday. I copied this cake from Mich Turner's - Spectacular Cakes. It was a challenge for me! At times I really wanted to throw it out the window. It was a real challenge to get the ballerina and her bees on the cake. The instructions said to "scribe" it on the cake, but when I did I couldn't see it well enough to know where to paint. I ended up poking holes in the fondant. This also had other firsts for me like homemade buttercream, and MMF. I made Rhonda's Ultimate MMF - very yummy! My mom loved it so much more than the regular fondant I make.

Kids New Years Eve Cake
Kids New Years Cake. Last minute cake I did for my family. Really just an excuse to make and use fondant for the first time. Pretty disastrous! I need lots more practice. Hahaha My 6 year old suggested the stars to go around the cake to hide most of my imperfections. I was shocked at how good the fondant tasted, everyone liked it! I used this recipe http://thecookduke.com/fondant-recipe/

Frosty The Snow Man
I made this for my oldest daughters Kindergarten class. It's her turn to bring in snack tomorrow (12/09/09) We're breaking the "healthy snack rule" so I could try a FBCT. Also bringing in 2% milk to balance out all the sugar. :-) Hopefully we wont get into too much trouble with her teacher. This cake also has edible glitter on it. :)
