Welcome Baby
This cake was based of a Noah's ark cake I had previously made for a friend's child's fist birthday. The client had seen the cake and asked that it be made with him and the baby at the helm instead of Noah. He also had me incorporate a Calgary Flames logo since he was a fan. Cake was chocolate cherry with swiss meringue buttercream frosting and fondant.

A Very Merry Christmas
Adapted from a design the client gave me. She gave me a picture that she wanted copied and the cake ended up more or less the same, except for improving the penguin design and the reindeer. I decided to put Rudolph instead of a sleeping doe and I gave him skates as well, to mimic the penguin and tie up the images. Cake is chocolate with nuttella buttercream frosting and walnut BC filling.

Ang Tampipi
"Ang Tampipi". Initially this was supposed to be a 'bayong'but it was kinda hard to make the cake stand vertical for some reason (I need a deeper pan ;P). Anyway, the figure is a sort of 'Juan de la Cruz' nurse going to Canada to work. Instead of leather luggage, he stows his stuff on a tampipi (a kind of woven basket equivalent of a satchel). Its stamped up with destinations and stops as well as the Philippine and Canadian flags.

By Request
The cake is chocolate with butterscotch flavored swiss meringue buttercream and covered with butter flavored Marshmallow fondant (I know, that's a whole lot of butter ;P). Accents are made out of gumpaste and Royal icing. Its all edible except for the ribbon, silver dragees, arbor and the platform the toppers are sitting on. The topper is to be 'saved 'that's why I mounted it on a platform. I'm happy they liked it.

Sushi Anyone?
I was supposed to make a purse cake for my best friend but since I couldn't decide what kind to make, opted to do something totally different. She loves Japanese food, specially sushi so I decided to make. Nowhere near as nice as the ones made here, (this is another first for me). Hopefully I can get better with practice. :D The cake is chocolate with brown sugar swiss meringue buttercream (I love the recipe by luvbuttercream!). I mixedpeanut buttercups with it for the filling. Yum!

Square Wedding Cake
My very first Wedding Cake. I made this cake for a a couple I know. It was done a week before the wedding and it was the week after I had just finished my daughter's Dora cake. The groom asked me if I could make them a fondant cake since they were told that a 2 tier buttercream would cost $280.00 and that the fondant would cost more than that and they were on a rather tight budget and schedule. Since I more or less knew them (we both worked in the same field) and I'm kinda' a sucker for romantic stuff, I agreed to make them a three tiered one for a little less than the buttercream one. ( Hey, it was my first wedding cake). Originally they were going to put fresh flowers on top and I wasn't going to make the roses (it was discussed that the price I quoted was sans the roses, also, I never made them before) but I had some extra red gumpaste, I figured what the heck, its good practice and they can take it or not (it was free - my gift to them since I knew them. It was also good PR :D). Good thing, they took it with the roses (whew - I needed the petals to cover some "booboos"). I know it is a little off to the side but they said it was okay (I'll do better, next cake, I hope). The cake is alternating tiers of chocolate and butterscotch caramel with Chocolate butter cream and MMF. It was the first time I used MMF and all I can say is that it definitely tastes so much better than the commercial one I usually use. The flowers are gumpaste as I had mentioned.

Nurse Turns 65
This is a 'rush' cake I made for a friend. It was made for their unit manager's birthday and she didn't give much notice so I had to do a quck serach for the design. Except for the nurse topper and the fact that this cake is round, I have to thank Sugar Siren's beautiful design for a Nurse's heart cake (hers is so much better) for the inspiration for this cake.

Topsy - Turvy Cake
This was the first cake I ever sold. It was made for a daughter's 16th birthday party and she picked the colors. I don't have a photo of the teenager figure I had made out of gumpaste that I added to the final cake. The bottom cake was made from lemon sponge cake but colored so that it turned out like a rainbow cake. It had lemon flavored filling and swiss meringue buttercream for frosting. The top half was chocolate marble cake with swiss meringue buttercream for frosting and filling. All I can say about this cake was that it was hard but fun to make.

Shoe Box
This is a cake I made for a friend who was celebrating her birthday and had recently passed her RN exams. The cake was made of 2 layers butter pecan to one layer chocolate cake and the frosting/filling was coffee cream cheese frosting. The shoe was made from fondant mixed with tylose so that it dried quickly and the shoe box was covered in Chocopan chocolate flavored fondant.

Barbie Princess Cake #2
This is a re-made version of cake #1 since I made the mistake of packing it up early and the fondant melted and got all gooey. I made this cake in 5 hours using 'doctored' cake mix in chocomarble and chocolate, with a strawberry preserve filling, swiss meringue buttercream icing and fondant. The cake turned out better than the first as the madeira was rather dry on the first cake. This one was just right and not too sweet.
