I Give You My Heart.
First time modeling animals. Or using RKT. BC (before cake) I would have looked at this and thought 'pppft, take ten mins...'. No, oh no. Took most of the time the kids were at school to fill, ice and decorate. I was really happy with this though. Pity about the bad lighting. I thought it was cute.

First Wedding Cake
My first wedding cake and second tiered cake. This was white almond cake on the bottom, vanilla cake middle, chocolate top. The additional cakes were a large choc, medium vanilla and small carrot for the bride to take home; I had a hard time smoothing the cream cheese frosting. Flowers were gumpaste. The ride there was longer, steeper and windier than expected, very nerve wracking! Loads of fun though, bride loved it, and that just made my day.

Spartaaa
This was my practice cake for the wedding cake I'm meant to be doing. The number of things that went wrong could fill a page, but so could the number of things I've learned. Such as: I can make icing smoother with warm metal than plastic, so need a metal scraper! All in all, for my first cake of more than one tier, and my first try at smoothing with BC, I'm pretty happy with it. Thanks to Vector Maniacs (vectormaniacs.blogspot.com) for the inspiration for the cartoon on top. Only got the flash going for the top, knackered, very late.

My First Big Cake/ First Time With Fondant/ First Gumpaste Flowers.
This was my first cake in a big tin, I'll have to put more batter in. I learned lots with this cake (when torting, don't put your hand between the layers to see where the knife is...) Lots to learn but very happy with this for being so many firsts.

First Cupcakes.
Hubby got me a little piping set for Christmas, this was the first chance I've had to have a play. Fun! My first rose was hexagonal, lol, but I was happy with the white one for my first try. I made: chocolate with peanutbutter buttercream (with choc buttons), caramel mudcake cupcakes with white choc buttercream, burnt butter cupcakes with burnt butter buttercream, and traditional 44 sponge cupcakes with rasp icing and coconut, for my Gran, who is...fussy:)
