Pink Train Cake
Pink Train Cake for my God-daughter's joint birthday (Twin girls!) Cake is Lemon Sour Cream Cake with lemon curd and lemon buttercream. Delish!! All edible (except the roof of the train, which is just cardboard covered in fondant. Had a lot of fun making this one. Also made 30 matching cupcakes for the party. Thanks for looking

Spiderman Cake
My version of Spiderman's Face. Lots of inspiration taken from here and on Flickr. The cake is a chocolate cake with milk chocolate ganache, all decorations were fondant (those lines are time consuming!) Quite happy with the way it turned out and the birthday boy loved it, which is the most important thing. Thanks for looking.

Swirly Rose Cake
My attempt at the fabulous 'i-am'baker's' Swirly Rose Design cake. My husband dislikes anything fondant so this was created for his recent birthday. Unforunately it was a bit of a rush job so the buttercream was too soft to hold the roses shape well. Good practice though and look forward to attempting this design again soon. Thanks for looking

Wine Bottle Cake
Wine Bottle Cake from Confetti Cakes book. My attempt at it anyway for my FIL's 70th Birthday. Bottle is Gluten Free Chocolate Mud cake with chocolate ganache and box is my regular chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache. Great learning experience - so many things I'd do differently next time. It was extremely humid here while doing the cake so had lots of issues getting the fondant to dry - and dry straight!! FIL loved it though - so that's the main thing. Thanks for looking!

Moulin Rouge Theme Birthday Cake
Moulin Rouge Theme Birthday Cake and Cupcakes for 30th Birthday Celebration. Six inch chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache. Black gumpaste roses and gumpaste hat. Ostrich feathers & silver cachous for further decoration. 40 cupcakes were a mixture of chocolate mud and caramel mud with hot pink and black buttercream (as requested specifically by client - even after warning of black staining!). Gumpaste shoes / fondant love hearts. Was quite happy with how it all turned out in the end, as was the customer. I iced the hot pink cupcakes the night before delivery and I found they faded a little overnight. Does anyone have any advice on how I can avoid this in the future - I thought colours in buttercream would develop more overnight (as the black ones did)...? Strange. Thanks for looking!!

Tinkerbell Birthday Cake
My version of a sweet little girls Tinkerbell Cake. The little lady was turning two. Neapolitan Cake with a chocolate buttercream & fondant decorations (plastic Tinkerbell!). Unfortunately a lovely number two I had made for the top of the cake didn't work out so I had to quickly come up with those dodgy looking flowers you see in the background. All a great learning experience though (i.e. put everything out of reach of mischievous two year old at home!!)! (BTW, this cake wasn't for a customer - just a lovely friends daughter). Thanks for looking.

Black And White Birthday Cake
Black and white 30th birthday cake for a black and white themed party! Learnt a lot making this cake - including how incredibly frustrating using a stencil can be when you're a newbie!! Unfortunately had to change the design at the last minute as I couldn't perfect the technique. Thankfully customer was very happy with end result. 11" bottom tier was white chocolate mud with white chocolate ganache, middle tier was 7" dark chocolate mud with chocolate ganache and top tier, 9" banana mud cake with milk chocolate ganache. Fabric flower and inedible jewels as topper. Thanks for looking and happy caking!

Sesame Street Birthday Cake
Seasame Street Birthday cake for my son's recent second birthday party. Top tier is white chocolate mud cake with white chocolate ganache and bottom tier is chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache. Took inspiration from the large number of other Sesame Street cakes here on Cake Central - I couldn't possibly thank you all personally, but a big thank you to everyone who posted their Sesame Street cake before this! :) Had a lot of fun making this cake for my beautiful boy - and he just loved it, which makes it all worth while. Thanks for looking

Number Five Birthday Cake
Gluten Free Number Five birthday cake for my sweet niece's birthday. She has Celiac's disease so the entire cake had to be gluten free. I altered my white cake recipe to be gluten free and iced with a strawberry butter-cream then covered in fondant. It was a big hit! Behind the scenes, I had to re-bake this cake THREE times to get it right - definitely my first cake disaster - but the birthday girl was happy on the day so that was the main thing. Thanks for looking!

Engagement Cake In Gold And Silver
12" square chocolate mud cake with rich chocolate ganache filling and covered in fondant. My very first paid cake! Client was very happy, as was I (or perhaps that's more relieved?) Would definitely call this cake a learning experience as I discovered that gold and silver are quite hard colours to work with - especially when piping! All the love hearts are hand painted. As time consuming as this cake was - I'm addicted to the feeling of completing something you are proud of and seeing a customer walk away happy. I still have lots to learn though so any thoughts / suggestions appreciated. Thanks for looking

Thomas The Tank Engine Cake
Fun cake I made for a special little boy who was turning two! 9 inch and 12 inch rounds, chocolate mud cake with a very vanilla buttercream. Frosted in buttercream with fondant accents. Biggest cake I've made to date, but so much fun. Especially seeing the little man's face when it was delivered. Thanks for looking and happy baking! Geordie xx

1St Birthday Cake
A 1st birthday cake for a darling little friend of mine. Two tier, white cake with strawberry buttecream, covered in MMF. This was actually my first ever Cake Diaster - I ended up having to re-cover the whole top tier because I was so unhappy with the original job I did. I don't think it turned out too badly in the end, but definitely a learning experiencing. Practice makes perfect, right?? Happy Baking, Geordie xx

Baby Belly Cake
Made for a friends baby shower recently (she's having a boy). Chocolate cake covered in dark chocolate ganache and MMF. The belly cake was cooked in a round 7" pan and trimmed and the boobs were two texas sized muffins. Was quite happy with the way this turned out. Thanks to all Cc'ers who have posted their own belly cakes with whom I took my inspiration from. Thanks for looking. Happy Baking, Geordie xx

Striped Birthday Cake
Made this Striped Birthday Cake for a friend this month. White cake recipe is by Sugarflowers here on Cake Central (thank you for posting such a delicious recipe - my friends raved about it!) with a Strawberry buttercream filling. The idea for the stripes came from a tutorial on Flickr by Tortentante. My first attempt at such a design and was reasonably happy with the way it turned out (although my cutting and joining clearly needs work!). Was pretty happy with the way the bow turned out too. Any comments more than welcome. Thanks for looking. Geordie xx
