Was inspired by cake posted by slean. Not as good as hers, but this was my first time sculpting a 3D cake, so I'm happy with it.
Her mum said she like Southern Comfort, Strongbow and shots and they would like a carryout. I figured tins would be the easiest way to go. TFL
I was given a picture by a friend of the cake she wanted for her son's 1st birthday. There wasn't any info on the picture, so I'm not sure where to give the credit. TFL.
I was stumped on how to make a ghost that wasn't built high like a barbie cake since this was for a big party. Settled on making two sheet cakes, then one 8" round to stack for the face and then carved away until it had no sharp edges. Piping is all royal icing. TFL
This is the cake that inspired the square 70th birthday cake I also made this week. Vanilla with van bc, fondant covered, royal icing piping and brushed embroidered flowers. I apologize for the poor pic...busted my camera and am trying to take all these pics with my daughter's mobile. TFL
A friend called me Wednesday and said that she'd just met a woman in the baby store that was upset because our local bakery doesn't do christening cakes any longer and she didn't want to drive an hour to get one...but needed one for her grandson's christening today. Anywho...long story short...she just wanted something minimal. Victorian sponge, fondant and gumpaste accents.
Since Sean and Kerry share a birthday they wanted to share a cake as well. Sean's is vanilla with bc and Kerry's is strawberry with bc. fondant Dora, gumpaste racing car (thanks CakeJournal for the tutorial!) and piping is royal icing. TFL
My neighbor asked for a pink and white cake for her mother's birthday. She stopped by when I was working on a christening cake with butterflies and flowers, decided she liked it, and this is what we came up with. Vanilla sponge filled with vanilla bc and strawberry jam. Fondant and gumpaste decorations. TFL
My children decided that they each had to have their own cakes for their class Halloween parties. Of course, they told me the day before the parties, so here's what I came up with for my son's class. Chocolate cake filled with vanilla buttercream. All decorations are buttercream as well.
A friend of mine saw another cake I had done earlier this week and decided she wanted one like it only square. Chocolate sponge filled w/van bc. Covered in fondant, brush embroidered flowers and piping are royal icing. TFL
