Lexie's 2Nd Birthday Elmo Cake

Lexie's 2Nd Birthday Elmo Cake

This cake was the most fun yet. I made the Elmo out of rice krispies, fondant and coconut. The cake was covered with buttercream and the decorations were made out of fondant. The only thing left at the end of this party were Elmo's eyes and his "skeleton".

1St Birthday Sesame Street Cake

1St Birthday Sesame Street Cake

I got the idea for this cake from youtube.com. The figures and decorations are made out of fondant. I made this cake for my nephew's 1st birthday. It was a big hit and it just happened to match all the decorations perfectly.

80Th Birthday Cake

80Th Birthday Cake

This cake was a challenge! I made it for my husband's grandfather's 80th birthday party. My in-laws are Sicilian and I wanted to do something traditional. I decided to make a Cassata alla Siciliana which is basically an Italian cream cake with cannoli filling. The cake itself was 18" in diameter and a little over 4" high. I iced the top of the cake with a basic sugar icing and I covered the sides with Marzipan. The most of the fruit is made out of chocolate along with the "happy birthday" plate. The grapes/flowers are gumpaste. Needless to say after all the stressing out I surprised even myself! Not too bad since I just started "baking" 6 months ago. I hope you like it.
