Baby Bootie Cake
My friend loves carrot cake, so I tried to keep the traditional cream cheese frosting and pecan topping, but yet incorporate sugar flowers and little booties made from gum paste. One of my favourite things to do is make the flowers for a cake and usually I buy real ones and copy them. I make them from squires kitchen sugar florist paste - the best in my opinion!

Nativity Cake
I made this cake for a Christmas Banquet and it came out quite different to what I had planned. The figures are made from mexican modelling paste and since the banquet was held outdoors in Florida, by the end of the evening the figures had become damp and sticky and the mangers legs fell off!! (Hindsight, don't celebrate Christmas in Florida!!)

Sleeping Girl Cake
My friend was having a sleepover birthday party for her daughters birthday so I came up with this fun cake and included her daughters faviourite stuffed animal she sleeps with. I hand painted the wooden bed frame to give it some texture but I wished I had coloured the fondant in brown first as it is patchy in some areas. Oh well live and learn!!!

Fat Mouse Christmas Cake
This is a fruit cake covered in marizpan and then a layer of sugarpaste/rolled fondant. Many years ago in England it was very common to recieve a big block of cheese wrapped in christmas paper with a big ribbon, but unfortunately a little mouse got into this one and nibbled at the cheese!!! The mouse is made from mexican modelling paste/gum paste. And in case anyone was wondering the ribbon is real, but everything else is edible.

Butterfly Cake
This cake was for my daughers 4th birthday, but it can actually be made for any occasion. The butterflies were made from mexican modelling paste/gum paste and the flowers from sugar florist paste. It is actually smaller than it looks. I made a 4", 5", 6" and 7" cakes which were all decorated in sugarpaste/rolled fondant.

Dancing Princess Cake
I just loved making this cake. It was so fun! Each princess is a cupcake. Three princesses are on the top of a 6" cake and are dancing around a maypole with the birthday girl's name on. Instead of a slice of cake each guest got to eat a princess cupcake, but not many of them wanted to eat them!
