Wow, what a challenge. I think this cake was probably 3x the size the bride and I thought it would be. I had a hard time figuring out the scale. Anyway, groom is a fireman, and she wanted to surprise him with a dog peeing on a fire hydrant. body of hydrant is cake, as is the torso/back of the dog. Lots of styrofoam and cereal and modeling chocolate!
Tried to model my stroller after those done by Pink Cake Box - my wires were too thin, but I think it turned out okay!

Oh, I just love this one! I worked hard to improve my rubber ducks. My first cake I used modeling chocolate and I didn't love it. This one, I did with a fondant/gumpaste mix. I love them!
There's a gumpaste 1 on the top tier - figurines were store bought.
First try at the phalaenopsis (moth orchid). Trying out different colored centers.
Bride's sister ordered a teal cake with mountains and piped trees. I wasn't sure what I was going to think of the teal, but I like how it came out!

Mama to be is a screen writer, so this was a fun theme! I took the photo before adding details to the film strip. There were onsies, bottles, rattles, etc. on the individual film slides. I actually just popped kettle corn and covered it in white chocolate. I figure why make fake food when I can just use the real thing? (I found that tip from a poster here on CC!)
I thought this cake was pretty cute, then we added candles and all the figurines, and I just loved it!!
For a party at which the gender of the baby is revealed in the color of the cake! In this case, it was a boy - so the vanilla cake inside was colored blue. NOTE - do not use egg yolks in a cake that you need blue! It had a blue-green hue to it! :( However, it sure wasn't pink - so they knew.
designed originally in a Martha Stewart magazine - we changed up the colors to be more gray, black and a lipstick red
These were my first ever gumpaste hibiscus flowers. The colors were mango and guava hand crafting.
I finally conquered the hibiscus! This one was a big learning curve for me, but I think I did it!
My first figurine - a garden fairy. This was for a networking gathering of wedding professionals at a venue called The Garden Room. Thought it would be fun to make a cake to look like a garden! All gumpaste flowers - fondant covered cake.
One of my first sculpted, heavy on the sculpted. It was hard to cover the back. I think his face turned out awesome though! Hope you think so too!
