Ballerina Birthday Cake
My first attempt at fondant ruffles... I love them! The dancer on top was requested after my client found a cake by Sam and Olga (who do beautiful work!). The cutouts on the side were done with my Silhouette cutter and edible icing paper that I got for free from the lovely Icing Images gal I met at the National Capital Area Cake Show. TFL.

Piano And Music Cake
Made for our piano teacher. If you look closely you'll notice that the music on the side is the Happy Birthday tune. It took me a while to figure out how to make those staff lines straight and came up with a homemade stencil made out of a transparency. The piano is made from chocolate fondant. Thanks for looking!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
The theme for my son's kindergarten graduation was caterpillars to butterflies... so what better than the classic Eric Carle book?! When I did a search here on CC I came upon the amazing Melanie Judge and her cake based on the book. Using that as inspiration and adding a few things of my own... and tada. Top tier (sun) and bottom tier were chocolate cake with ganache (I'm a convert), middle tier was WASC with buttercream. All decorations are fondant and/or gumpaste. (This sucker was one HEAVY cake and was devoured by a class of kindergarteners in record time!) TFL.

Ella Grace - Baby Shower
First off... thanks to MD79 for posting her awesome cakes for me to copy! She's my CC idol. This cake was SO fun to make. I could have spent forever with the details. Everything was hand cut, except the baby, ribbon, and big flowers - which were molds/cutters. The letters on top are RI transfers. All fondant or fondant/gumpaste accents. Cake was yellow (Sylvia Weinstock's recipe) with buttercream filling. TFL!

Topsy Turvy Birthday
Made for a cute girl in my neighborhood who's turning 16. She chose the colors and the design. Other than some sagging issues on the top, I'm pretty happy with my first attempt at this kind of cake. All red velvet with vanilla buttercream icing. MMF. And everyone will be pleased to know that my wires are in straws.
