This cake is decorated completely with fondant. It was a real hit at my party last weekend!
I made this just for fun for a friend after we had a discussion about the dearth of Dutch oven potatoes at our meeting that night. It's made from two 8 in rounds, carved at the bottom, in spice cake with vanilla buttercream filling, and all of the decorations are in fondant.
This is coconut cake with vanilla butter cream filling and covered in fondant. The flowers are gum paste, the door, window shutters, and curtains in fondant. I used 8-inch rounds for each of the five layers. I forgot to put in the supports in the lower layer and plate, so the bottom layer was a bit saggy by the next day, but it was just for fun, so it was a good learning experience.
