Luau Cake
Red Velvet cake, fondant palm fronds atop pretzel rods, fondant tiki hut roof and tiki heads flanking the door. Pretzel sticks on sides of tiki hut to resemble bamboo. Blue buttercream icing for ocean and vanilla wafer crumbs for the sandy beach. It was a lot of work, but I'm happy with the result. I don't think it turned out half-bad. It was for my sister-in-law's brother's birthday, and they said it was "awesome".

Coconut Palms & Tiki Hut
Just made palm trees drying on foam block. Will clean them up when they've had a chance to dry thoroughly. Tiki top will sit atop a cupcake. Will use pretzel sticks vertically on sides to resemble bamboo. I used fondant for the palm fronds and glued them together with green candy melts. Then adhered them to the top of pretzel rods with more of the green candymelt. This I did by suspending the pretzel rod in a small vase held in place with a paper towel. The small tiki heads will sit on each side of the tiki hut's doorway. Once this cake is completed I'll post a picture of it on here. As this was my first attempt at palm trees, I think they turned out quite well. Even made some coconuts and glued them underneath the palm fronds.
