Summer Wedding Shower
This is only the second cake I have made for someone else. I am still learning how to make buttercream more smooth for the finished look (so I am not happy with that part of it), but otherwise I liked how the overall design turned out. I also am still learning how to level cakes (more difficult than I thought). I get frustrated with the little details that don't turn out.

Love Is In Bloom
I made this for a bridal shower where the theme was "Love is in Bloom". I tried to go with hydrangea and roses for the types of flowers. I think it turned out pretty good. I used an 8" pot (a little larger than I would like), but was able to put 25 cupcakes on the top to cover it. Thanks for looking.

Skateboard Park
My son wanted a skateboard for his birthday, so I decided to make him a skateboard park cake to go with it. I looked at many different versions and came up with this. All buttercream. I used 2 9x13 to stack, cut and carve. He loved it, other than trying to get all of the surfaces covered (which was a hassle), I was pretty pleased.

Father In-Laws Birthday Cake
This was the birthday cake I made my father in-law. I got the idea from several different versions on C.C. I used a from scratch vanilla cake recipe I got on this site as well. I then iced it with a homemade vanilla buttercream and then used the dark choc. pieroles and fresh fruit. The flavors were great together, though for those wanting to do the same, one can of the pieroles doesn't go around (even an 8 inch cake).

Final Cake - Wilton Course Level 1
I had wanted to incorporate more flowers that I had learned, including the rose - but do to high humidity (97%) the icing would NOT cooperate. I ended up using sweet peas, vines and leaves. My kids thought it was great, but they liked it because they got to eat it.
