R2D2 Star Wars
This cake is my most recent one that i did for the weekend. A friend wanted it to feed approx 60 people. I used 2 x 10" round pans, i cut both in half and used three 1/2's for the body and the other one for the dome top (luckily the cake rose well). I chocolate ganashed it all until it was smooth and covered in white fondant. I then used 2 x rectangular styrofoam cubes for the legs and added some modelling paste at either end it give it some shape and then covered them. In order to get the design perfect i layed a sheet of baking paper cut to size over the body and then drew all the pieces i needed to cut out of blue icing and then layed them out. I found this cake to be a lot more geometric rather than creative, but i had a lot of fun painting the silver on (my first time) and trying to get it looking just right!! Hope you enjoy as much as the 3 boys I made it for.

Big Bird & Elmo First Birthday
This is all made from sugar modelling paste, I did big birds in the modelling paste and then covered it with little circles of yellow royal icing. It was very time consuming but worth it in the end. I did Elmo in the same way and covered it with red royal icing and dabbed it a damp paint brush to get that effect. The colour in the royal icing then matured over night and ended up a little too dark, so I am not too happy with Elmo's colour. Overall the birthday girl was happy and that is all that matters.

Barnyard Party Cake
This was for my sons 2nd Birthday and only my 4th cake. My mum and I worked for a few weeks prior to make all the figurines, it was a hoot, even my sister made the bulldog so it was a real family affair. It took in total, 24 hours to make and it ended up being much bigger than I ever expected. It was made with 2 x 8" square cakes on the bottom and 1 in half and triangled for the roof. I covered the barn in brown and scored the icing when it was on the cake and covered the roof and added the straw later.
