I love Monster's Inc and so does my nephew :) I sculpted Sulley from cereal treats and modeling chocolate. Mike was sculpted by my sister who has never done anything cake related! And of course I had to include Boo and Randall. All sculpted from modeling chocolate as well. And yes, that is a fingerprint of the lovely 3 yr old birthday boy that tried to help with his name :)
The "Brave" themed birthday cake was made for my niece. The cake itself is mostly buttercream with fondant/modeling chocolate/gumpaste details. Merida I sculpted from a little bit of everything. Check out her closeup in my other album :)
7+ hours of handpainting the stripes on this cake to match the cake board covering was very tidious work! But the final outcome made it all worthe it! This cake was inspired by a picture the customer gave me of another cake she found online. If anyone recognizes it, please let me know so I can give credit!
What a challenge this cake was! Besides I knew absolutely nothing about Duck Dynasty, they asked for the 4 main characters on the cake! I don't know about anyone else, but my people sculpting skills are not my favorite. Practice, practice I guess :) So here is the cake with all 4 guys.
I hand carved this panda bear and rock from cake. It is covered with fondant. 3D are my favorite cakes to do :) The birthday girl and her family just loved it!
I got to make these for a teacher appreciation luncheon with a fiesta theme. You should have seent he set up that was done for them! Amazing stuff for well deserving teacher's!

3 tiered chocolate and strawberry cake cevered in fondant. Note to self: The hand painted zebra stripes took a lot longer than I anticipated :) Her favorite bright colors were included and bling was added via colored sugar.
My son's cake request was to make a cake out of french toast sticks. So he got a castle made from french toast sticks and donuts. What's breakfast without bacon! So I made a fire breathing dragon out of bacon. Yes, bacon! It was kind of fun thinking this one up :)
Baby shower cake for a special couple that has tried for a long time to have this baby girl. So they deserved a special cake! Fondant covered tiers with bottom tier quilted, gumpaste name and yo-yo flowers and a ruffled baby bum to top it off.
This cake was special request from my son this year. First, let me say how much I really prefer not to use nonedible items BUT that is what he wanted, so that is what he got! Kids and their toys :) So he thought he would "challenge" me so he said he wanted a farm field with a John Deere tractor in it, a police car and a fire truck and of course a barn. So I thought barn fire! All toy vehicles and I added a recuse helicopter flying overhead and an ambulance. The barn is covered in fondant and hand painted. Everything else is buttercream and cookie crumbs. He loved it!
Handpainted topsy turvy cake. The birthday girl wanted it to look like the stained glass butterflies were popping out of the glass. This is my first stained glass cake, but I have ideas for another when the time comes ;)
Had to delete and repost this picture since the link was having problems. I did it back in 2010. The gentlman this cake was made for is a vietnam vet and worked for Keebler for 40 yrs. Both big parts of his life that his family wanted included on the cake. So this is what I came up with :)
Everything you need is at your local hardware store. It can be personalized and made as big or little as you want! The top tier I usually have a cake on so the nut and bar is covered (after I cover it with shelf liner so the food doesn't touch it). If you aren't doing a cake on top, you can usually find a creative way to camoflauge it. One more thing my dear hubby pointed out I didn't include in the picture, you should put a washer on top and bottom so the nut does not eat into the wood!
Buttercream frosted sheet cake with fondant decor and an edible image. The names all over the cake our his wife, children and grandchildren that all got together for the first time in many years to do this surprise party for him!
Some cake, lots fondant, a little airbrushing and many, many hours of hard work :) Then it was disassembled and eating in about 5 minutes. She loved it so it made it all worth it!
I am friends with a great family that has an artist son that floors me with his creations! I was asked to use one of his pieces for inspiration for his graduation cake. It was a total surprise for him and his expression when he saw it was priceless!! Totally worthe the long hours put into it!

I have the great privilage of being part of a non profit that makes cakes for terminally ill children and their families. This was my first call to action. It was made for a 3 yr old boy who is battling a very rare stage 4 liver cancer. They asked for a dream cake that had his two favorite things. Team Umizoomie and baseball. I am happy to say he is currently in remission!!

A 2 year old has treasures all their own. These were some of his. His favorite being the green thing he so lovingly refers to as "Baby" :) Along with T-bone, Elmo, Thomas, dinosaurs, legos, and cars.

Pather's sheet cake done in buttercream. This was my first (and probably only) gluten free cake!
All done in fondant. Logan wanted to include his guinea pigs on it so they are chewing out the bottom :)
